So, spoke with Dana at Chief Aircraft, who provided first rate service and knowledge of the product. They had received a couple of kits for testing and were quite impressed with the overall build, quality and flight characteristics. They flew one in Oregon that was powered by a Kingtech 140 and performance was very good. The retracts are made by / similar to Fei Bao.

The aircraft looks very L39ish and with the standard wing should have very gentle flight characteristics. Nice open double hatch design for easy access to electronics and the engine bay.
I am seriously considering this....

Have you received one yet?
I think they just arrived in North America and have begun shipping out to customers. The Chief team in Oregon flew a KT140 powered preproduction version
not long ago. May want to ask them.

Good choice

Mine is the charcoal version as well. I decided on the turbine ready version with the 10% off deal its a very good price. A friend of mine has a pilot arf and the quality is surprisingly good ( compares to Aeroworks ). Have not decided on a KT 100 or 140.

I saw this jet at SJS last fall. It looks very nice. One thing that concerns me(if my memory is correct) is the wings are open bay covered with film. Wouldnt put too big of a motor on it and overspeed your monocote.

With the 10% off the turbine ready version is an especially good deal, I already have all the electronics needed from another plane so I decided to just go with the plane and landing gear version. Have you received yours yet? If so, what size tank was included?

I have a lot of time on the Reaction 54 as a short field jet and comparing the L39ish numbers of the Dolphin, it looks like the trainer version wing would work very nicely. Sooooo...for short, rough field ops I elected for the trainer wing version. The video shows some nice close in flying and well controlled / balanced turbine out gliding. It looks like it could be a nice overall package. My big, elegantly dressed girls - I'll keep for the big events. This sweetie should shine at the local grass field.

Yes, according to the manufacturer, the wings are interchangeable. They will also provide any wood parts for repairs free of charge. Nice feature if you go 4X4 onto the side of the runway and crack up the nose gear mounts.
Not to say that I have ever done that...lol....

Cheers

K-80g too small or ok for a sport flyer????

sure would like a back up to my Turbinator since they don't make the ARF anymore. And I like the pilot wood parts deal....always a great plus

I bilt a PILOT Edge 540 30% ARF with a DA60cc in it, I perchest it from AMR Hobby shop in Quebec last winter, VARY good costumer service. flu it hard for nine months and is waiting for the spring. I LOVE LOVE this plane, a well bilt ARF in my opinion. The on line instruction manual could be a pit better.
