I will be using Futaba BLS 471SV. I think you need pretty fast servos on the thrust-vectoring.

I went with the Futaba 9352HV for the thrust vectoring nozzle. 305oz and .06 secs @ 7.4v.

Thinking about using the Tillotson filter OW-802-P that came with the kit for the fuel and smoke tanks. I've always gone with a heavy clunk attached to tygon tubing in my other jets, but this time I think I'll try it on the J-10. Anybody have experience, good or bad, with this type of filter clunk with kerosene and/or smoke fluid?

I was told NEVER use a felt clunk! I used the large Du bro and drilled it out. The P-180 will be here next week so more pics from me coming up.
Thank you Billy D

I was also told to never use those felt clunks but I was also told by others that they work fine for fuel pickups as long as the hole in them is big enough. I am sure DW will chime in but there is a minimum bore size for your 180 and you may have to drill that clunk out. The reason i was told not to use them is that they may decompose and leave fibers in your fuel tank. I do not think they should be used for smoke fluid as it is too thick a fluid to flow freely through the felt.

I've been using Felt Clunks in my Ultra Flash with no issues for a while now, I'm only running a 100N engine though, I was planning on using something different until I realised when I split the Wing Tank to re-plumb it, that I'd been using a felt clunk for 2 years with the tank in my previous Classic Flash (bought from a good friend who had already had around 40 flights with it, so I didn't see the need to have a look when I first bought it).

Been using felt clunks for 10 years and never changed one, but I use paraffin (Kerosene) and not JetA1. The Tillotson clunks now supplied have a smaller hole in the weighted centre (used to be bigger), its why we had a friend produce the brass centred unit we have sold for the last 2 years,
The Std inner can be used, but drill it out to 2.7/2.8mm all the way through the slot. Do not use in as std on anything over a 100.

Ok I think I'll try the filter clunk with Kerosene for the main tank. I have four of them so I can change the filter at some point down the road if need be.

I drilled out the clunks to 2.80mm (7/64") diameter all the way down the slot. I cut the safety wire to secure the tygon tubing in a way to keep the filter from sliding off the clunk.

And it just dawned on me that my Jersey modeler full jug uses the same filter clunk and its been in there for 9 years. I think I'll swap it out for one of the new modified filter clunks.

For smoke I'll just use a regular heavy duty clunk. Thanks for the feedback guys!

I use a JM tank that I bought 3 years ago and it has a filter that looks like the one in the kit but I just pulled it out and its solid. Just an FYI

Does anyone have their struts loose from the retracts? If so a total length measurement would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob Neal

Congratulations Pablo for your nice flight.

At last my J10 arrived. It seems that I really need your experts' suggestions in building process.
At first, need recommedations about servos used for wings, canards, rudder and vt s.

Thanks.

Hi Selcuk!

What brand radio equipment do you prefer? That makes suggestions for servos much easier. Ralf and Enrico use Futaba BLS451 on all control-surfaces except on aileron they use BLS452s. So servos around 10kg torque and 0.05 sec/60° should be fine, a bit slower but with 14kg torque on aileron.

I have decided to use 8911HV s, but you all cleaned these nib servos from market. Nothing left.
