To me it looks like just any other sportjet that has been coming out recently.

Why does no one come up with something new or innovative? There are more than enough sport jets on the market that just look like this one.

That is very true, but there are also too many hawks, T45s, F16s, F18, F100s, F86s, and so on, there are still place on the market for them.
If you talk about innovation take a look at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...arcjets-2.html post # 33, those models are not in the market yet.

Very good point and this holds true to giant scale as well. How many Yaks, Extras, and Edges do we need? What does surprise me is the lack of choice in the 100 size sport jets. It is almost like no one wants to compete against the Ultra Flash and Bandit.

There are a number of 'sports' around however there is still a huge demand for good looking, great flying, well priced sports jets and this one is going to tick a load of boxes in terms of all the mentioned and much more.
The final rendition of the Vixen is still to be confirmed but work has been going on in the background to bring to market a great looking sports jet with a few nice features:

To be confirmed although high probability to be manufactured:

A 'dogtooth' designed wing, a feature which induces a vortex over the wing to control boundary layer spanwise extension, increasing lift and improving resistance to stall.
Two wing tip finishes - normal or swept (the swept version fixes with just two bolts).
Dive brake (belly mounted)
Wing hard points to allow fixing of a range of 'sports' jet ordinance
Two part fuselage for ease of transportation
eXtreme ARF quality and outstanding colour options, which if required can be specified by the
customer and then made to order
Wide turbine range to cater for all flying styles
Cockpit tub and clear canopy

This is just the start of the process and as we speak the moulds for this jet are being cnc'd, testing will commence in a few months time and more updates will follow as manufacture proceeds.

I will have some images in large format at Jetpower for those who might like to learn more so please pop by and have a chat, I'm next to Als Hobbies

As mentioned on the F100 thread here are some of the recent plots for MACH, TEMP, PRESSURE, VELOCITY and VORTICITY on the Vixen project, these plots are generated computer simulation from the CAD files of the jet to establish if there are any issues with the design which might compromise structural integrity, flying characteristics and safety.

This is the first batch of tests back, further tests to plot WING LOADING, STRUCTURAL STRESS and FATIGUE should be completed in the next 5 days.

Sorry, but it looks like all the others to me. I just wish they would be a bit more imaginative with designs.

I would bet that you if you put all the sports jets on the market in a row on the tarmac the differences in looks would be more obvious than you might imagine. Maybe we will do that at a CJ event next year to see the results...... grab a Bandit, Flash, Wizard, Futura, Natrix, Shockwave etc and have a line up

What Xtreme is looking to achieve is a high quality, great flying and good looking jet which customers enjoy flying and that brings years of reliable service.

If you have any 'imaginative' ideas please drop me a PM, would be good to see them too.

Marc, I'm no knocking it, just saying. To me they seem to be much of a muchness and it would be nice to see manufactures taking a different tack with perhaps more of a retro or pseudo scale style but incorporating modern build techniques and fly ability. Ali had a prototype of a nice 50's scaleish style sport jet he was flying for a while but I cannot recall the name at present which was interesting but production did not materialise for what ever reason but I would buy something like that in an instant especially if it came from a reputable company and was no bigger than say 2.2m long with a 2m span which is for me manageable for my workshop, vehicle and pocket. Having looked around Jetpower a week or so ago for a nice sport jet I saw lots of great examples but only one that had a 'different' kind of look to it but unfortunately not in production until the end of the year when I will take another look.

I'm hoping the price will compensate for any resemblance to other sport jets.

Very saturated market. all sport jets at Jetpower. a few stood out, good and bad!
This company has had a T45 on their website since the beginning. Where is it? That model still has never been produced. a real one, not a Hawk painted in T45.
I am dying for a 1/4 scale F86. make one and Ill be first customer!
Yes I know about the F84. might be a cool project!
There is a big void opened up with the crash of FEJ and affordable scale jets department.
How about a Super Galeb or a Fiat G91?
Cost effective scale jets sounds like a better business strategy and yes, the Vixen does resemble several sport jets on the market. adding F4 wings and bomb doors isn't really making it innovative or different. ok, maybe dropping a roll of toilet paper out of a jet at 200mph would be cool!
Im sure it will be inexpensive which will be an attractive attribute.
I wouldnt waste a bunch of time on the computer with graphs and charts, just wow us with shiny and cheap! lmao! those are the top two most important factors we use on deciding on next jet project.
Oh and you better make it PNP, cause that's what everyone expect these days. BVM quality, FEJ pricing, already professional built, covered in 2000 watt lights! lol
I like seeing new designs as well. The AD Diamond was the most innovative thing we have seen in a decade!
Mauro did a nice job on his Rebel.

I was looking at the event photos this weekend and I had that very thought. Seems like scale vs sport has changed to more sport type jets. Lots of vipers and BAEs, but then again that was just pictures and doesnt give the full picture. I do think the cost of scale makes it harder on peoples banks, I have to do lots of saving and selling to get new projects.

we understand that sport jets is already a saturated market, lots of different sizes and different companies doing them, but still others scale models are too, as Mr Wagner states in the post #6 there are too manys, F16, F18, F 86, Hawks, T45s but they still have their place on the market and Marc S on the post #9, anyway we decided to do it we still think that the market have a place for it.

On the beginning we had thought to do the T45 so we had place it on the website but after the results of our survey we decided for the winner that was the KAI T50, next year we will do a new survey do decide what planes would be manufactured between 2016 and 2018.

F 86 for a 110" maybe it will be possible we will include it on our new survey, the G2 Galeb and the G4 Super Galeb should be part of this survey as well, thank you for your input.

Scott we do not waste time in the computer doing graphics to wow the customers what we do instead, is to save time and equipment to test the design and materials before the prototypes fly, so when the prototypes are ready is a matter to adjust a few things, I will attach one video of the simulation for you to understand.

We agree with you that AD Diamond is a futuristic design and well done and we are pretty sure they are going to succeed with their sport jet.

We are committed to make good and safe airplanes and to make our customers proud to have them.

The mix in Xtreme's portfolio is heavily scale jets, with three more in the process of being kitted (all 3 of which to my knowledge have not previously been properly kitted by a manufacturer - so some credit to Xtreme for embarking into this new territory) , so to have one sports jet is not in my opinion a travesty, yes there are many about, but there are many who want them so I am sure it will be a great jet and have many happy customers over the years to come.

Hui has already answered the question around computer simulations, it makes sense and hopefully also shows you guys that a serious well thought out process is undertaken to make sure the final result is fit for purpose.

As soon as shiny flying Vixen's are about you will be bombarded with pictures I can assure you - oh and video too

Hui Ye,
I was being a bit sarcastic with some of my replies! Forgive me.
I wouldn't base too many business decisions from RCU poles. They usually end up with strange results. So many flyers don't even come online here. I've seen other manufacturers talked into models that never sell.
Poll results will usually end with inaccurate results.
The FEJ poll is a great example.
Consider the FEJ void needing replaced. There's a huge gap there. People were buying them hand over fist but I doubt they sold 2 of their sport jets.
The last 2 years jetpower has been sport jet city. Very few new scale jet offerings.
Just my observations.
I went looking to purchase a new scale project and they are very limited.
And yes, there may be many f16, Hawks, f18, but not many super scale, contest capable and many sizes still not filled. Horizon Hobby just came out with another P51! Understand?
Good luck!

"just wow us with shiny and cheap! lmao! those are the top two most important factors we use on deciding on next jet".

Really? Kinda figured quality was at the top of the list for most people. Come to think of it you're probably right. After all, quality on the FEJ's was nonexistent and those planes sold like hot cakes.
