Marc,

Rich and Jim will try to do more tests this weekend, if they can and weather permits, otherwise it will be next weekend and proper video will be taken.

Rich and Jim got the Vixen out over the weekend and this time a decent video camera and operator were in attendance

The video is the first of 4 flights made on Saturday, edited by Wager and now shows the Vixen flying as intended following the first 6 flights which were to evaluate, test and trim the jet.

Hopefully further video of the days flying will be edited and loaded soon.

I have just heard the first 10 kits will start manufacture late June or early July and be available for delivery around the end of August, one kit will be taken to Jetpower for sale and general viewing and I hope to have my demo Vixen ready and flying in time for the show too.

Thank you for Azza Stephens for stepping up to the mark and offering to fly and for Mick B and others for offering their services too - it was very much appreciated.

Enjoy...

I want to thank Jim Hiller for doing an excellent job as the "Chief Test Pilot"

And a very special thank you to Bob Engle for taking the time to drive three and a half hours (one way) just to film the Vixen flights!
Bob also said he will edit a "Directors Cut" of the days videos

Nice one Bob, many thanks for your time and look forward to the 'directors cut'

The Vixen will be flying at the FIRST IN FLIGHT event on the 20th for those who might like to see it up close.

awesome flight video! That Vixen seems to fly "on rails" as it gets. Was that with a gyro installed?

Yes the Cortex Demon Gyro was running in all of the videos; however that being said it flys on rails with the gyro turned off, if you read the flight report that was posted in this thread the biggest advantage of the gyro on the Vixen is in the turns. The gain was set to 35%.

That's right Wagner, those huge flaps really work!

The Vixen is a winner for those wanting a sport jet with a large flight envelope.

Now it is time to give more information about the Vixen:

The Vixen production will start on Jun the first batch is for the customers that are in the promotional list, the delivery time is 12 weeks so they will be out in end of august, bellow it is some tech information:

Fuselage length: 105" 2.67m
Wing Span: 94" 2.38m
Engine: 45 to 54 Lb 200 - 240N
Dry weight 38 Lb 17Kg
Fuel tanks - 2 sadle tanks of 136 Oz or 4 liters each, one header tank of 32oz or 1 liter, 9 Liters in total (this was calculated to fly 10 min with a consumption of a 54Lbs (240N) engine and will have left 20% of fuel for any emergency)
Smoke tanks - 64 oz or 2 liters

Everybody is asking for the price and most are asking of the promotional prices as well, so the retail price for the US market is $ 4,800.00 plus shipping, this price includes airframe, Landing gear, fuel tanks, exhaust, accessories, batery tray, factory installation, the promotional price is $ 4,300.00 plus shipping and includes the same package.
The exhaust was dimensioned for a 54Lbs (240N) and comes equiped wiht bell mouth but we will replace for a bypass as customer order.
Lights will be offered as an optional and will come pre installed from the factory.
Please jump here if I forgot any information about the Vixen

What type of hinging system? It'd be great to see an unboxing video once the 1st production model comes in. I think I remember Billy doing a good one for the XXX that answered a lot.
Great plane/great price for the size. I think it's a winner!

As Rich build this jet he soon will start a new build thread (If he takes to long to do it I will post a Jeopardy for him), there he can show all the assembling aspects, All Vixens comes with aluminum hinges pre-installed by the factory .

The Hing system utilizes a piano wire hinge for the ailerons, elevator and rudder, so these surfaces can be removed easily.
The wing tips are removable and capture the aileron hing pin. The production wing tips will have provisions for optional lighting.

The flap hinges on the prototype used Robart type pin hinges, however the production models will use live hinges for the flaps.
The nose gear door and the air brake door utilize Aluminum gear door hinges, "very robust".

I was getting the Vixen ready for its first Jet Rally which will be First in Flight...(kind of fitting) and decided it needed a bit more color to been seen easier.
So I added some red and white to the bottom wing panels with some sign vinyl, this should help with the visuals, especially when Jim is flying, I think Jim likes inverted flight better than right side up!.
