Hi Guys.
This question may have been asked I am putting Gyros in all my jets I have just finished switching them over to my new system (Jeti ) the last one is my Raptor, can I do this with tailerons and the question raised was with the bit of free travel on the tailerons will this affect the gyro and possibly start flutter.

Thanks Gun how much movement have you got on your tailerons as I just said to Bob I have about 3mm and there is no way I can get rid of it I have tried Man have I tried, all the flying stabs that I have seen have a fair amount of movement some I would Sh##t myself if it was my aircraft LOL

I have 2 servos on the elevator. I just finished setting it up. I am going to use the knob to adjust the gain for the first flights. I have the travel set to off then to normal mode. I adjusted the travel so the hold side will not work. I lower it to 0 on that side of the travel for the channel I have the gain plugged into.

so when you takeoff the first time, everything is as you normally fly.. then dial up 30% expo to begin with.. then switch to the rate with less expo, about half.. it should feel similar, but be stable as a rock..
we rarely end up over 60% overall because of the risk of overlain at high speed.. anyway when you find the locked in feel value, then you can lock it into the flap switch..
So for instance if the value is 35% at cruise, then I lock in 40% for takeoff flap, and 45% for landing flap.. that works well for me to keep the feel consistent.
Exceptions are delta wing aircraft.. they require a lot more rudder dampening.. so we go into the software and lower the elevator/aileron values, and then dial up the gain 60-99% or so..

In the software you are assigning the relative bias gains.. the master gain still controls overall gain.. the software controls relative gain from 0-20.. be careful with relative gain.. a little change goes a long way..

Hi Goose - agree....100% correct...adjusting master gain changes overall gain irrespective of whats set as relative channel gain...so the guys need to be a little careful.

I have been using the Cortex on several of my planes both turbine and prop and have no issues. I was just wondering if anybody has done a direct comparison of the Cortex vs I-gyro 3e?

it is personal choice... I have a 3E on my BVM 86 set up by Ali and a Cortex on my BVM T-33 set up by the rep and VERY happy with both and they both do the trick VERY well. I also can confirm when I spotted for Gun at FL jets and I saw him use both back to back I clearly saw that the Cortex on his 22 had better results with a straight drop in install on his airframe.

Okay, I've searched for references on the "alternate" mounting options for the Cortex, but not having much luck finding anything. Anyways, we installed the gyro on the vertical plane and there are two options for this in the software (L Vertical & R Vertical). The 'question'...which is which?
If you were sitting in the plane facing forward, the gyro is mounted with its base on the right side and the sockets facing left & forward. I naturally assumed this was R Vertical...yes/no?
I did switch it to L Vertical very briefly to do a cursory check, and didn't see any change in direction, but I may not have thoroughly vetted that set-up, so know I'm questioning it altogether. We have 'semi' successfully flown the plane with the R Vertical setting, but are still needing to tweak things and was questioning the mounting setting again. Does anyone know for certain about the vertical mounting?
