AVANTI XXL Build....
Someone mentioned starting a thread....So lets get at it.......Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the fastest builder in the world...So everybody pitch in and we'll go thru the process...
First, This is a NICE jet..Packing was great..no problems at all....Well...Lets get to that in a moment...
Manual starts you out on the wings....And you gotta just laugh about it... But you have to cut out a couple of slots in each surface to mount the control horns.... The Funny part is there is a note that says " If there is no wood inside aileron.first glue wood into aileron before securing horn". DO what ????????????Guys /SKYMASTER I'd pay the extra money for the wood to be there...
Guess What........Hollow as a balloon inside......LOL.

So you start scratching your head.... And even though I know an outstanding auto painter...I don't really want to start cutting holes in my airplane... SOOOOO... I cut out a section on the end on the aileron....Build a hardwood block with precut slots for the horns .........Inserted this block thru the side hole and QPOXYED ( Greatest stuff ever) the whole thing in place...

The joys ( ? ) of being a trailblazer I guess. So, on my kit received a month ago it is the same deal. So blocks need to be put in. I also had a minor fit issue with the top deck. Mine actually had the glass preglued in which was really nicely done but it was put in without the frame aligned with the fuse. This resulted in a slight bow that required the front windshield to be popped out and a new one put into place. Skymaster dealt with this immediately. I would also suggest that you check the length of the aileron hinge rod. My right one was too short to engage all the hinges...again Skymaster has been notified and this has been corrected. My ailerons and flaps bind and will require the top and bottom of the trailing wing trailing edge to be cut back a little. Little niggly things but when it put together all those little annoyances go away. So...just some things to be aware of. I will start serious construction in the next couple of weeks. It will be Kingtech 210 powered with the thrust vector, iGyro and smoke.

Hi everyone,
I am waiting for my XXL to arrive and I would like to convert the retracts to electric gear, including brakes.
Can you guys give some specs which size, which struts, etc?
Thanks,
Ziv

I know a friend who ordered a Hawk 100 recently and the quality of the construction is a nightmare ,glue everywhere, over spray inside the fuse, wings,
hinges fairing where miss aligned. For me it was a total deception, how come a $6,000 jet comes like that?

Some photos of my good friends (CassieMitch) Avanti XXL assembly. Not really builds anymore. He also had alignment issues with the canopy but he tells me all sorted. He is not so computer literate.
Kingtech 210, Powerbox SRS, iGyro for vectoring assistance, Electron ER50's for retracts drop in fit, Skymaster Oleo's for the Avanti XXL. Intairco Electric brakes and wheels, SWB Arms, Futaba servos, 18MZ.
Two weeks time for the maiden.

thanks for the info, i was looking at either the electrons or behotec C50s no that i know the electrons are drop fit i might just use them plus Dreamworks will be my support on them.
i dont suppose u know what size the break drum is? trying to find the diameter of the center hole and the over all size.
