Have chatted to guys in the UK regarding the CG shift and according to Andreas from CARF they all use the std tank with no modification on all the videos from jet power in Germany .
Have removed the EdF unit and am refitting the turbine back on my bird and will post pics of the bracket I made for quick removal of the pump and tanks .

Nice pics. Thanks. Of the interior pic of the fuse looking aft, what is the stringy looking "tube" coming down from the top to the left side by the wing root?

Nice to see some info on this project. I've had the airplane and turbine mount for almost a year. Looks like I need to get started on it.

Looking forward for the pics.I want to build mine in a way that I can easily remove most of the turbine stuff and fly with it also on tow events..
Have someone tried to thermal with and without the turbine to have a comparison and tell us if is work going this path (remove all for pure thermal)

Flew mind for a couple of flights without the Edf or turbine while I was waiting for the mount and she has the most amazing thermal capability ...no advertise vices and she goes like sh1t of the proverbial shovel when you put her nose down.
Will try upload a few more pics of my tank install and other details ...tried uploading a video but no go will try again when I'm back from holiday .

Installed the RX and Tail Wheel. Main retract also setup.
Just tested the tanks for leaks all good, it is a 1.75L tank
Next is tank installation. Nothing is provided in the kit so will have to make my own method.

Anxious to see the fuel cell. Are you putting any wheels or skids on the wing tips?

Nice install. Would you measure the distance between the bottom front edge of your turbine to the top of the fuse? I would really like to know. Thanks.

Thx man ...4mm right at the lowest part...........with the 6mm insulated carbon risers I had to put between the turbine clamp bracket and the mount standoff, without them I was bottoming out on the top.......I presume the jetcat is slightly smaller than my Kingtech.
Any hoo there is no heat at the front so it's not a biggie and I plan on putting some heatshield along the top of the fuz before I fly her.

I probably missed it and am too lazy to go back and find it, what size Kingtech do you have? Do you happen to know the diameter of the can? If not, I can find it on their web site.

Also....Did you put any form of insulation or a gap between the vert fin and the heat shield? I am told the heat shield isn't necessary because of an off-set in the engine mount but it still sounds like a good idea. Yours was very nicely done.

I haven't got a DG800...yet. But I am getting close. How is the water?

The Kingtech I have is the K100 and it is 97mm in Diameter at the widest point in the front ,no insulation under the turbine but I plan on fitting the whole top end from the turbine mount to the fin with some thin stick on heat shield made by some company in Oz ,not sure of brand as I tossed the packet.
The air gap on the fin is 5mm and should be enough ,the first time I ran it before I took it off the side of the fin was cooking so I opted for this solution as I only had the thin heat shield stuck on it ....this is still under the litho plate.

Appreciate all the info but you keep stimulating more. What thickness litho plate did you use? Where can you get it? I have heard it is very thin and other say it is very difficult to bend. Your application looks very nice compared to some not so good looking alternatives.

Got the litho from a buddy of mine 1/2mm thick 90mm wide and the piece I got was 500mm long ...will find out where get gets it from ...not sure if it is local or imported .
As for bending it ,I simply used 2 pieces of Meranti wood and a wing joiner 12mm solid steel that was lying in the workshop and used the wood to fold the litho over the round bar and used them to get a really nice even edge ,took a few times to get the exact shape I was looking for .
The holes were drilled before I bent it as were the corners that I rounded, cut them with really good scissors and it seemed to work pretty well.

Hi bugginit,Nice setup, looking forward to the flight report.Question for you, how did the bird fly with the EDF setup? Had it power enough, as in do you think it will still fly if i would go 1 size smaller on the EDF (DS-77-DIA-HST)Was it an easy/drop in fix to mount the EDF on the turbine mount or did you had to make an ton of changes? In my case turbine is not really an option unfortunately, our field is not the longest and certain death at the end, so in case of, i need to be able to make an go-around.And why did you swap to turbine if i may ask? Thanks in advance,Cheers,Ed

Hi Ed ,she flew well up a slight bit underpowered for my liking up here in Johannesburg ...we are 1470m above sea level and she need a really long runway to get airborne even on 14s ,at sea level I can imagine a lot more grunt.,not a big one to fit the fan ,had to mod the secure fix tabs a slight bit and I moulded a shroud to get the max out of the inlet .
I initially bought the 94 for another projet and it was sitting around hence I used that ..I then got a deal on the K100....I could not say no
The Edf came off and I fitted the turbine but when I was checking the C of G when fueing up there was a serious shift ...I was uncomfortable with that and due to the holidays I could not find someone who could give me a solution or if it was ok to fly like this ....OFF CAME THE TURBINE AND BACK WENT THE edf ......long convoluted story.......now the turbine is back on for comparison.....will give you all a flight report tomorrow.
Cheers Mike
