Default BVM Rafale Single or Twin?

Hi guys,

I am considering a BVM Rafale - single turbine option. Any comments on this versus twin?

Anyone know if BVM is still servicing the gear?

Thanks,
Dave

I have the single engine version as does Andy, Buck, and Goose. Scott, Sean, and Sebastian have twins. Scott and I flew our planes together at Winamac and the single has a considerably longer flight time than the twin. The install is a lot simpler (less stuff) and is lighter. I would get the single. If I wanted a twin engine Rafale (and I do), I'd get the big 1/5 scale from Aviation Design (with twin Kingtech 210's).

Andy, Sebastian, and I have all gotten some gear parts from BVM in the last 6 months to a year.

Regards,

Jim

Thank you Jim.

What is a good choice for single power? 200 ok or too much?

Are there any major issues with the plane or major upgrades to be aware of? There BVM site no longer has it listed so I can't see about any updates/directives. I think there may be an option for a thicker wing tube and I can't remember if there was an update to the canard mount ?

I am going to try and catch Patty or Dustin regarding the gear, I am not sure I would want such a great jet without easy access to parts.

Thanks again,
Dave

We are about to get a 1/5 Rafale in Houston.
This is a super scale kit, true to scale within 1/10 mm.
Super scale gear as well. Just for info...

I've got a 200SX in mine but will switch to a Kingtech 210 for next season. The Kingtech is a bit lighter and the Xicoy ECU had a really nice telemetry sensor that interfaces with my Jeti radio.

The canard mount in mine is just a piece of ply and hardwood with a carbon tow wrapped around the brass tube. The only AD that I'm aware of was the cutdown rudder.

Regards,

Jim

If you are getting an older kit, ensure it has a thick walled plastic spacer that ties the two main formers together. The spacer slides over the bolt that ties the two main formers together. Perhaps one of the boys can take a pix if necessary.

I like the JB 220 but wiil use my old faithful Olympus in the interim.

Single install hands down !

good luck
