Jet Legend quality and service questions
I am starting to look for my next project. JL makes some nice looking jets but I know there were some quality and service issues a couple of years back. Any recent experiences with their jets and service? Jets specifically are the JL F-35 and the F-4. Thanks!

My advice, dont deal directly with them. Use globaljetclub or another good US rep (Malcolm Key(?), not sure if he still deals with them, after the BVM takeover). They must be doing something very right over there........
I had a sour experience, but it wouldnt keep me from buying a JL model in the future (read my signature). I had the small F-16 and the quality was nothing short of excellent. The wood former quality, the glue fillets, the fiberglass layout, the machined hardware.....just awesome.
IMHO, I would buy the F-35 as a white gelcoat semi ARF, do the finish yourself. From the pics it looks glossy and it has the horrible AA1 markings and light gray color. You can easily do a very scale paint job if you do it yourself.

This doesn't affect US service probably, but I am desperately trying to get a set of F-22 rudders via Jet Legends german distributor (Final Modellbau) for months now. Apparently Jet Legend is somewhat super-busy at the moment. Its just annoying because the season is over now...

try the uk rep jeff sewel at zed jets always had great service from him, cannot speak about the f35 but the l39,large f16 and small f15 are good quality bvm now sell the large f16 as their own its that good

I've had a couple of F-18c's from them.
Bullet proof. Almost literally.
My F-18C blue angels had so many flights and like 6 flame outs. Bad NiMH batteries (my fault to use such crap batteries), ran out of gas a few times (hey 5 min is pretty short), engine mount screw stripped and at full throttle, the engine would move and crimp the fuel line, clogged filter once....
Literally, the toughest airplane I ever owned. Followed closely by my CARF flash original.

I purchased two jets from Camlex about 4 years ago. An F-4 and F-22
Camlex, Monica I believe, was the best experience I've ever had buying birds. I ordered both at the same time and saved big time. The F-4 was a special request as I had the factory paint me a Tbird with #2 instead of the usual lead.
I did assembly threads on each ship.
I highly reccomend the F-4! It's slower than SM and BVM birds but will still get you lots of attention and will easily operate from 400' runway. I loved it and the gear mounts are simply the strongest IV ever seen. The engineers put the gear bolts in shear as they should be. I had some hard landings and never one gear issue!

In my experience JL has great quallity (T-45, L-39 first hand).
Global JetClub has great service.
Camlex, not so reliable in my experience, answered 1st email then never answered emails for replacement part.

I want an F35 but the JL version looks off scale and I would never buy anything from FEJ. Guess I could get the JL version and mod the heck out of it.
Would love to hear flight reports on this plane. I bet after you make the nose gear doors the scale way and paint it right it would look allot better. Does it have an F35 cockpit or is it some crap from another plane like an F15 shoved in place?
Would look awsome with a working canopy since it moves the opposite way of all other fighters. With so many countries getting the F35 wish someone would make a real good model I bet it would sell pretty well.

The nose gear door is actually correct. Both JL and FEJ modeled the non-production version with the large nose gear door. Both are actually pretty accurate to the version they represent, sort of like the early YF-22 models. It is not an X35 though.
I am considering making a 3D printed scale cockpit for mine. TONS OF EMPTY SPACE inside that cockpit!

I have posted before about the F-35 I have the one Lowell got and tested here is short video of Dougy flying it... I later had Billy Edwards fly it and said no bad characteristic's I should be getting it out next week or so and can see how it really does...40 second mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0NJga6stdE

We have had 2 JL F-35's around here. One in Maui, sold Our club president still has his, good flyer but it took him some tweaking to get it flying right. It is sensitive to gear door positioning.
