Factory COG setups always seem to be a little forward, and really should just be a starting point. Might just drop some of the weight out before hand me thinks. I usually end up flying most of my planes just as much upside down as right way up. No its Goulburn Society of Aeromodellers which is on the Freeway towards Yass From Goulburn.

Jungle, its a nose heavy ***** at the factory cog, moving it back to what you sugggested 145mm from the leading edge, also needed more elevator, few other changes and should fly well.

Maybe the OP could edit the title to reflect the correct "C" model clarifying that it's the Legacy hornet. The CG between the C and F/A models is quite a bit different!

Sorry about the Quality of the Pics, after removing all the led from the nose to get it to balance at the suggested COG point, my COG was set up to 155mm from the leading edge, flew great . 145mm would be a great starting point from the leading edge.

Thanks for the tips on the CG. I made a nose cone mold for the lead plug(scale sailplane trick although some just pack it with lead shot and gobs of epoxy) and will err on side of slightly less. And then I can add a few extra pieces to move CG around if needed.

friends
bare in your minds that there were two versions of the f 18c, which produced in two different sub contractors, the Jet-Legend company at first, and
Fei-Bao second.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...ml#post5351184

so, make sure what version do you have....

here is our (my partner and mine) converted to the B version ,not ready yet, just before set up and the maiden.

best regards
Avi

If the length of the fuse and appendages are the same, a measurement from the leading edge for cog would be very similar. Mine is the latest version with carbon spar.

I would not add any led at all, mine has none now. Move the gear around until it gets to where you want. I have both the batteries and air cylinders in the nose. Powerbox Cockpit srs which sits basically just slightly behind where the pilots seat is, all switches and stuff are close to that. pump and ecu are in the rear with the turbine. The K170 sits as far forward as I could get it, to put it in I have to actually unbolt the turbine from the mount, mount the bottom plate to the rails, fit the 2 saddle tanks, then sit the turbine in and bolt the mount back together as the fuel tanks interfere with access to the actual mounting bolts. That includes cutting about 1cm of the tail pipe to maintain clearance between it and the tail cone of the turbine.

Anybody find they have wobbly gear with the stock springs in the landing gear? It looks like there are 3 separate springs. 2 with approx the same wire diameter with length taking up the majority if the oleo strut and 1 fairly short spring but very stout.

I used
4 x Hitec HS-7245MH, they are a tight fit in the rudder. They fit the ailerons without an issue. With the rudder I had to sand the inside of the rudder skin slightly to fit. Took me a while to find it, not at home for a few more weeks.
