would new pump and ecu help throttle lag at low rpm?

Ralph, last time we spoke you stated "about 4 sec" from idle to full? This is normal acceleration for this engine... While the VT-80 is a phenomenal engine, it is not built to the same tolerances as the Merlin line with almost instantaneous throttle response. The "Honda" instead of the "Ferrari"....

Although I personally don't own a VT80.. I have a few M140X and a few M200X.. As Todd said the VT80 is a phenomenal engine.. the best in its class.

As for fuel line.. the new brushless pumps have a 6mm inlet and a 4mm outlet to the engine. I strongly recommend you maintaining 6mm tubing from fuel tank vent, pickup - UAT to pump.

I like the "Ferrari" analogy... Jets Munt turbines are made based on order, perform flawlessly and absolutely the best in the industry...

Yes if the input into the pump is 6mm on the VT-80BL then that would be a good idea to start with. My VT-80 is somewhere between customs and here but was hoping that I would get it today.... maybe tomorrow.... This is worse than Christmas. !
Will see what the inlet size is when it gets here and will go with that. Thanks for the idea.

Did Sonia send you a tracking number?? you can track the box and know exactly where it is...

You will love the VT80BL... there is white T shirt with Jets Munt logo in the box... Wear it when you fly Jets Munt....

received the VT-80BL today and pump inlet and outlet same size at 1.91mm id with an OD of 3.97mm......only issue I have is the mounting of the pump..... No clamping device and the outlets are straight down. Liked the old brushed pump design with the outlets and bolt down pump ..Just a little more work on install but not really an issue ......Just rakes some more planning.

Also so wonder if a nice baseball hat is available? T shirt is fine but would have preferred other than white...... Hard to keep clean. Lol. Love that little turbine. Can't wait to get the fuse painted , installed and running..... Wake up the neighbours ! Bad Boy...

Here is a picture of my pump mount to be screwed down and will attach pump with two small zip-ties. problem solved.

Just have to glue air scoops on to fuse and then ready for primer and paint. Yahoo !

Stegl.... So far only white T Shirt and one size... Yes Gaspar has caps (white as well).. I got a few when I visited his facilities and one at Jet Power.... ask for one on your next order instead of the T Shirt...

Your pump installation looks good. Make sure that you don't "kink" the fuel like in the turn process back to the turbine by hitting the former in front of the pump. Also don't forget to prime the pump before your fist start...

You will really like that turbine...

The former will be routed out as we speak... yup no sharp bends.... on that one . Will be a bit before I run the turbine as still lots of airframe and servo work to do....... My problem ; I am too much of a fusspot perfectionist ! LOL......

any idea what the power wire gauge is from the 2S lipo to the turbine as not marked on the wire. I have to make up a new one about 5 or 6 inches or so longer as I don't want to do an extension. Thanks.

Just got my m100, my question is that since the tail cone is quite short compared to most other turbines, is the gap between the end of the tail cone and bell mouth still around the 1in mark?

Congratulation on your M100.. except for the M200XBL all the other Jets Munt turbines cones are shorter than the other turbines... I would not exceed 1" maybe even ¾"

Is it a M100 or M100XBL??

brand new m100xbl , just got it from dreamworks last week. Only thing that worries me is that it will have to sit a little further back in the aircraft due to the short tail cone, but hopefully I can shift some things around in the airplane to make up on any CG changes, it's probably not too big of a deal.

Fantastic .. you will have great support from Dreamworks....

The M100XBL is not has heavy as the other 100 size turbines in its class so I don't think you will have that much of issue. The movement is close to the CG anyways..

Question: Does anyone know for sure if the JM VT-80BL have a final filter in the turbine as they don't have or show a filter in between the pump and the turbine ? Thanks

as per Gaspar filter after the pump not needed just the supplied Festo before the pump. Will go as per his recommendations . For whatever wear off the pump will go thru the turbine. I guess that is why they make their own in house pumps ......better quality.

Stegl... you should have a festo (4mm) filter in the small box with you pump, system analyzer and battery . I believe on the VT80 BL the inlet into the pump is 4mm therefore a 4mm festo filter should go between UAT (final tank) and pump.

Most turbines have a small filter under the cap before any fuel enters into the valves. I am sure Jets Munt will have such a final filter as well.

Yes the festo filters always go before the pump and apparently no final filter into the VT80BL as the pump design is superior to most as manufactured in-house and better control. When you start with clean fuel into the pump you get clean fuel out. Anything coming off the pump is so fine , it should pass thru most filters and no problems created thru the turbine. And that's from "from the horses mouth" as the saying goes.

Except for Jetcat aluminum canister filter all other filters should be on suction side (before pump) not on pressure side...

Stegl... Let's us know how you like the VT80BL after your first run....

Have a question for those that run telemetry radios or in the know ........ Are there any feedbacks from the VT-80 that would indicate an engine out or running issues that could be down-linked ? And if so what parameters ? Discussions please with radio systems used .
Thanks

On Jeti Radio system with the Xicoy Telemetry device on any engine using the Xicoy ecu V10, you get full telemetry and you can even adjust the setting without the gsu.

From Xicoy web site

Translates all relevant parameters (RPM. EGT, battery, Pump, Throttle and remaining fuel) from the ecu to the TX, where they can be recorded and alarms set.

If used on JETI and Hott radios, it provides full emulation of the ecu data terminal to access to all ecu functions, and to monitor the startup of the engine. Keystrokes of the buttons on the transmiiter are sent to the ecu to allow the navigation through all the menus on the ecu.

Note that I haven't tried it yet but I'm a Jeti user (love their telemetry and radio system) and will be running this on the KT this summer.

Below is a chart of the available information based on the radio used. I am using a Jeti radio and I get all the information available. It works perfect and VERY dependable.

Thanks David and Dan:
Yes the DS-16 Jeti radio would be the real McCoy all right and sure would love to get one; but can't seen to find one in my price range. May have to go with the xicoy telemetry adapter for the VT-80 and then use a full range Jeti telemetry receiver and the Jetibox Profi . This should give me what I need. All the other brands are lacking somewhat in Telemetry features. Maybe someone out there has a second one they might unload... oh well maybe there is a Santa ....LOL

Got the Boomer Sprint fuse and wing center section primed ready for paint sometime this week. Once that is done then retract , VT-80 and fuel system install.
