Anybody have an idea how many minutes the VT-80 will use in 7 minutes of flying ? ... looking at downsizing the Sullivan 125 oz tank and adding smoke. Saw some benefits last weekend of a smoke system. Didn't get to fly ( darn it) last week as my pro link control module packed it in with no retract and no brakes being the big thing... Brand new; just a few testing cycles then nothing. Sent it back to DreamWorks so they can work some magic on it or replace it.
Not their fault but was not happy to say the least with the long drive to the spring jet rally and back.

I have a Bobcat/VT 80. It has 2.5 lt ( 81 oz if my calcs are correct) of fuel on board, not including the UAT
I can easily fly 8 minutes with this, take off to landing..
The Jets Munt site has full throttle fuel consumption at 80N: 220g/min (I believe that 220g is equal to 7.5 fluid ounces.)
The VT 80 is a very economical motor..

OK OK; olnico... typing error ... you know with all that auto correct with Apple Ipad ..tries to think for you; .not noticed when done. Forgot to proof read but Roger knew what I meant . Smart guy.. LOL..... Yes they always have specs but was trying to get normal, real life numbers. Thanks for the input and have done the corrections.

got a question for those with Jeti transmitters.......when setting up the telemetry controls.... go to Speed (rpm) do you have to set Condition X< to minimum rpm ? that would take a long time to say specify 30,000 rpm would it not or am I missing something ? Settings for default please ? have set the switch for my Idle setting... Thanks in advance for the help.

I think Mike forgot to mention pressing "MENU" button while in the field changing the number... Also I think the max we can dial the number is 32000... And don't forget to assign the "trim button (TR4)" as the switch to activate the alarm.. otherwise it will alarm if the jet is on and the turbine is not running. Finally I have mine set at repeat "3x"

Thanks guys... I guess this is was also my point about the manual.... they go to details to setting screen brightness and how to turn the radio on but lacking real bad in the area with the stuff that is needed. will try that . Thanks guys.

With my DS-16 radio I have my flameout warning triggered from a Logical switch that looks at pump voltage and EGT. The warning is only triggered with the engine set to run, pump voltage < 0.1V and EGT > 150F.
Having the EGT > 150F stops the flameout warning prior to engine start.

Paul.. If you activate the alarm using the throttle trim button (TR4).. the alarm is only active when the turbine is in the ON (READY) state.. this will keep things simple... beauty of Jeti...

The great thing about my implementation is that I don't have to remember to activate anything. I just use switch SE (replaced with a locking switch) to start/ stop the turbine. The alarm is then fully automatic.
I have disabled the throttle trim buttons completely.
The great thing about Jeti; multiple ways to do almost anything.

OK when you go to Telemetry controls and select Sensor.... Speed (RPM)
next line is.... Type of control
third line is..... Condition X< "my RPM setting entered"
fourth line is.... Duration 0.0s
fifth line is........ Default 0%
not sure what those settings are for,

Ok guys..... Need help on the VT80BL turbine setup......went out for some full power run ups at the baseball field (not to fly) and when I got to about 1/3 throttle the pump voltage dropped back and of course the revs as well . Fire walled and no power. Had a few air bubbles in the fuel line so bleed those out and same thing. Went home and did a full charge on the 2S lipo for turbine and no significant change. Kinda puzzled as don't recall if there was any issue the first time I ran it a month ago. Any ideas ? thanks

Stegl.. Make sur that all the air has been purged from your system... then fully charge the ECU battery as well as your receiver battery.. then re-learn the radio again.. and re test.....

Thanks David...... Did the air purge, full ecu battery charge and the receiver runs off a Powerbox set voltage supply at about 5.8 volts. No-Go . Tomorrow I Will re-learn the radio again and give it a shot and let you know tomorrow. Many thanks. Hope it works !

If pump PW is dropping, there is a reason the ECU is pulling the power back. Either your hitting the "Pump Limit" setting or EGT is going above 800C. You need to look at what the data terminal screen while running the engine up to see where the issue is. What is the EGT reading? What is the pump PW at idle and at max achievable RPM?

All is well .... it may have been ECU to radio learn that I did re- do and that may have helped as I had done more radio programming in between earlier successful runs and when problem started. Here are some engine run parameters that I copied down as quickly as I could.
1) for start PW 15
2) at 7800 PW 100
3) at indicated fuel ramp period the temp rose to +- 760 and then came back down to 668 and then stabilized at 645 at idle speed of 45500.
4) During initial run at full power (150000-150500 rpm) the GSU was flipping back and forth between " run max" to " cal. pump " and after about half a minute it stayed at Run Max.
5) At idle the pump PW was at 258
6) at max rpm 150000-159500 +- the PW reading was 1300 +-.
Just wondering if this is all normal ? I think I got it all copied down right and thanks for all the help. Seems problem licked . One other comment.... it would be nice if there were some running parameters available to keep an eye on and compare with what is happening to what should be happening.
Tomorrow I am planning to run again with the Xicoy telemetry unit plugged in this time and read settings off my Jeti radio. Would have done today but in my hurry left my refueller at home.

The PW numbers you see on the BL engines are much different than what you are used to seeing on the "brushed" systems, so don't let the 'higher' numbers alarm you. From my understanding, it's not actually the PW being displayed, but the pump RPM instead. Until we see more BL engines running, we won't know what is "normal".
