I've just found this "TAGS MINI " on one of JRs main sites.

Dimensions : 14×25×41mm
Weight : 10g
Voltage Range : 4.5-8.5V
Minimumradio requirement : 6ch
Remote Antenna : RA01L

I realise its intended as a Hele gyro but with a built in DMSS decoder using a Sat to receive an RF signal, Its in fact a "6ch DMSS Rx with a gyro built in"
I'm sure it could be used in fixed wing as is but a dedicated Aero version with a software change would be a nice addition to the JR range not unlike the Specy AR635.

Can this gyro work with a regular receiver like the Rg-1131G ?

The AXIS Gyro is for use with RXs with "X-Bus" out so I think only those that end in "BX" the RG731BX 7ch with sat and the RG712BX 7ch no sat.

And of course there Xport units like the 14ch XB1-14DRS that also has PWM outputs and the XB2-CHB, RG031BX and XB-CHB that have X-Bus out only.

All the flight controls are sBus servos running on the bus output of the backer with ECU, gear, lighting etc running off the pwm outputs from the backer. I would like to introduce a gyro into this system but it needs to go between the receivers and the backer and I have been waiting for a serial in, serial out gyro to be released for some time. However, this doesn't solve the problem of how to combine the two receive outputs, the gyro and the backer. I don't imagine a gyro on each receiver output would be very clever, anyone any ideas?

I run 2 SBus 3-ch RXs into the PowerBox Royal SRS which has the integrated iGyro. 2 x Ele, 2 x Rud and 2 x ail outputs and GPS related gain etc etc along with all the features of the Royal SRS.

Best of all worlds in my opinion.

Yes Mark,
Royal SRS would have been the way to go but the Robbe unit along with its very heavy duty bus connectors and wiring is in there at the moment and I don't fancy ripping it out!

Guys,
the xbus rx can take both batt inputs from a powerbox sensor switch(1 into batt 2nd into any spare channel port) as they all share a common polarity in the rx.
however by introducing the JR Axis gyro the manual shows a single batt input into the gyro only. Or alternative single input through the Hub.
Does anyone know if you can still have dual batt supply by having one into the rx and one into the gyro?

I would not attempt to use the tags in an airplane. The ail/ele/pit channels are output with swash mixing coded in. This would not end well for a plane.

The manual shows that a JR Xbus or Futaba Sbus Rx will work with this gyro system. Has anyone check to see if Futaba Sbus servos work with Xbus Rx and vice versa? It might make for easier transition back to JR if needed.

what part will not work, the Rx and the gyro or Xbus Rx with Sbus servos?

A Futaba SBUS servo can not be driven by JR XBus signal

You can use it with an S-Bus Rx, but need std Digital servos.

The iGyro 3e is here for simple installations without a Bus system

I have a couple of these (not flown one yet) but have been experimenting with setup. The manual talks about using CH ID 6 for a second AIL servo and that you can re-use channel 6 for flaps (or whatever) if you split the signal upstream of the AXIS.

So far it looks like you can do the same with CH ID 7 which the AXIS uses as a second ELE servo channel. So it seems you end up with two extra channels for free. Interesting...

Default Connection Schematics

Thought I would share some schematics of how I plan to retrofit AXIS gyros to some of my jets.

Habu 2 has stock analog servos which are not compatible with the AXIS PWM outputs, so I used an xbus converter harness on the xbus output of the gyro. This allows me to split the AIL to right and left independent channels. Steering and flaps use the PWM outputs of the 712 (or 731) Rx.

Habu 32 has digital servos, so I can use the AXIS PWM outputs. Then just need one harness for flaps, gear and steering.

My Ultra Flash has a Powerbox Competition, so setup is similar to the Habu 32, with the Powerbox in between the axis and xbus harness and the servos.

Would you want the steering on the gyro as well? I have one of these Axis gyros, but have not set it up yet.

You could if you wanted to. It would make the setup in these cases a little more complex, unless you just use a y-harness on the AXIS rudder output (if servo is digital or if using a converter harness on the xbus gyro output)
