Default New Jet Trainer "FireBird"

Anyone try one of these yet? Looks like a smaller Reaction 54.

Thanks,

Sure we could. We could fit three in there. Besides, you never stated that it would have to fly lol

Wow! With all the design technology and structural strength of a .40 sized prop plane! That tail section will fly off right away! Who are they kidding? Is this another off-shoot company of FEJ?

At least that girl in that annoying message box that follows you as you scroll up and down is cute. Well, kind of cute.

It's a shame they couldn't have beefed the structure up and made it a little larger and sold it for a reasonable price. They would have had a winner.

What is that ? A lunch box ? If that is supposed to br a trainer, it must be for blind people that can't see how ugly it is.

I see redwing rc is selling them now. I would buy one to get my turbine waiver but it only takes a 60n engine. don't think I would want to spend the money on a 60n turbine then never us it again.
if it was sized for a 100n I would buy it. probley be the cheapest way to get your waiver.
I still looking for a beginner jet but it has to be for a 80-100 engine

Did anyone else read the reviews? Hilarious!

its a total piece of S h1T.. There are only 3 options for a low budget entry level jet that can do most aerobatics and still go fast.. and land at a snails pace... The Sprint, the Xcalibur and the Reaction 54

Another option for you that is a great entry level trainer that flies fantastic and lands soooo easy is the boomer elan, it will fly with a p70-120 and can perform aerobatics very well, plus an 80+ inch wingspan giving it a good presence and easy to see.

I have a K100G in a Navy Cat. Around $650 with the gear. I have really enjoyed it. Pitot indicates touch down at around 30mph. Will get nasty hops if landed too fast though so not the absolute best trainer jet.

I have flown it off grass. The wheels are pretty small but I have the trailing link gear. If you have a nice grass field it should be fine. With to get it to fly straight at all power settings and speeds you need to add some down thrust. This will cause burn spots in the grass and some clubs don't like that.

I think the 100 is just right! could I blow it apart with the 100? Probably. I don't do full bore dives and don't pull lots of g's at high speed. I have clocked mine at over 180mph and all has been fine. I have been pleased with it.

There are no instructions. You have to figure some of it out but there is a very good build thread for the Navy Cat on RC Groups.

Light weight ,short take off and very low speed landing. With K-60g I can do anythings except Knife edge.Very suitable for training
The best thing is it's ready to fly with in 5 minutes and no retract problem.

Bruce Tharpe (wasn't he the reaction designer?) did a great job on that planform to see that even produced like THIS it'd still fly.

Sure it has changes, I guess to make it uglier or cheaper to produce (I wonder which), but the original concept seems to come through...
