I'm definitely signed on with interest. I have one of these kits I picked up a few years ago and like you, I am in need of a few parts. Specifically I am in need of the swing wing pivot bushing and pin as well as the aluminum control arms for the swing wing mechanism. I could also use a new fiberglass cockpit frame (although I could just mould a new one). I'm all ears if anyone has such parts in their cache.

Hey Guys,
Looks like I shall be taking my F-14 out of hibernation as I have found a canopy.
Here are 2 photographs I scanned, date on the back says Aug 2004, a long time ago.
2015 is looking promising!

I just got a bunch of Yellow F-14 parts, and am trying to fill some of the blanks. I too was planning to make parts, but noticed your post. I would be very interested in pivot blocks, bushings, and pins. Also interested in a set of wings and spoiler shafts.
I have a bunch of stuff, and have one of everything that needs to make, but if you are already setting up to make parts, I would be happy to go that route I would also be interested in some of the templates/tracings of parts. We are thinking the same way! I plan to document everything, spare cores, wood templates, ect before building.
Great thread BTW, looking fwd to your next posts and LOTS of pictures
Also sent you a PM
Thanks!

Just messing around on the computer tonight quickly drawing up pivot brackets. Curious if anyone else would be interested if I have a few sets made. Brackets are left and right with the only difference being where the retracts mount, and the lightning holes on the inboard side. My plan is to change the lightning hole layout to allow bracket to be drilled as either left of right after machining. I did lay it out with all the holes, but the retract holes on the inboard side are fairly close.
Having those holes drilled and tapped adds approx. $30 per piece (which is crazy) so I'm debating using an original to make a steel drill guide, and drill them in a drill press.
I also plan to either make, or have made spoiler shafts, pivot pins and bushings.....that is unless someone is already doing so?
The brackets are too much for my old Bridgeport, so I have to have those made. Ballpark is around 45-85 per bracket if I do 3 sets. Price goes down the more that are made.
This isn't a time sensitive project, so if interested, please understand it might take a couple months to get them
Anyone interested?

TJK.. Is your Tomcat built or in the process of being built?? I have an NIB Swing Wing mechanism.. But I personally would just us one Very High Torque servo as that basically all the swing wing mechanism is..

The Black Bunny in the pix is Bob Fiorenze's old plane form the early 90s. I spoke with him about it a couple times and he said the same thing; Loose the Yellow sweep servo, and go with one of the Robotzone servos from servo city

Got it
Have contacted a couple shops about making parts (CNC). Gene Barton is willing to make bushings, but only a couple (which works for me). Really need a head count to see if there is a need to make any more. I can sketch them up and post a scanned copy if that helps. Pretty simple if you have a lathe (that's running)
Focusing on just the pivot hardware this go around, brackets, pins and both bushings

Wasn't planning on making drawings of that stuff, but will see what we can do.
Here is a scanned copy of instructions and parts list that I have. No plans, unfortunately
There is also a page showing the pieces I'm missing. Instructions also talk about a jig that that is used when gluing wings to wing blocks, with wing in swept postion. If anyone has that tool, and they could trace it, or have plans showing it they could scan? Tracing part on paper with a ruler along the bottom for scale would be great! If anyone is willing to make full size tracings and mail them, happy to pay

Cool, thanks for the instruction manuels!
I have a scan of the plans. Send me a pn with you emailadress.
I thought if you make parts you have drawing of them. But no problem.
Regards Martin

I have no plans for parts, but I have one of everything I need to make, so just going to copy them. I was using a free CAD software from Emachine to design the bracket, pins and bushings, I don't know how to save and export anything but a screen shot. Will see if I can figure it out
Thanks

If someone gives me photos with dimensions of everything, i can do a 3D solidworks drawing and have my machinist quote for the parts. Pricing is very reasonable and turn around is very quick as well, he doesnt mind small volumes either
same goes for wood parts, i only need a scan with dimensions and i can cnc cut those if needed
