I'm definitely in for a set of pins and bushings. Let me know if you still need the various tracings we discussed. It's my plan to try and get to that this weekend.

Thanks!

Focusing on just the pivot hardware this go around, brackets, pins and both bushings

Hi Paul

I do!
I attached a PDF with a picture of what I need a couple postings ago. Stabs would be great as well if you can. I have the swing arms, if you still need them. Just PM me your address, or let me know you don't need them anymore. Vic really helped me out on the F-4, and I'm pretty sure you had a hand it that. My turn to pay a little good will fwd

How sad they stopped making the kit. Now they make nothing they import other than parts.

Guys this is the controller board I used for my wing sweep.

https://www.pololu.com/product/1393

The original yellow board did a meltdown on me on the bench.

This contraption allows you to take a regular servo input (Pulse Width Modulation) from the Rx and control your wing sweep like a giant servo.

You need a feedback Potentiometer to keep track of the wing position. I used the same 5K Pot that was in the original wing sweep mechanism.

You can configure this board with a PC to program speed, endpoints, overloads and a number of other functions.

Hope it helps,

Steve

Very interesting!

I like the worm gear setup on the Yellow servo, makes it almost impossible to overcome the servo. That said, they are a rarity these days, and if you find one, they're pricey. Couple guys have been using a Robot zone servo from servo city with good results. Fio used one on his EDF F-14, and Bullet also did on the FEJ F-14. Doesn't have the worm gear design, but does have some very high numbers at 180 degrees of rotation

EDFJim had a FEJ F-14 with his own design that used a servo like this you may contact him and you can do a search on RCU and finds a few picks of his design. It worked great.

Hey guys,

This would also be a good alternative to the Original controller board in the Skymaster version I guess.... I'm not particulary satisfied with the way the Original electronics work.... will need to check it out!!

Mike,

You are the man! Thanks so much for these! For some reason I was not getting alerts when updates were posted to this thread. I believe I now have it fixed. Now to find those 10-32 ball ends and the wing pivot bushings...

Anytime Paul!
McMaster Carr for rod ends

I sent a few PMs out to those who said they were looking for parts. Have been working with Charles to get any remaining F-14 stuff that may be kicking around the factory, made available for purchase

For anyone needing pivot brackets, bushings and pins, there are new sets available, direct from Yellow $240. Can also buy retracts $990, wheels $180 and brakes $120, all brand new right from Yellow.

Call Charles to order

Martin
I emailed you, just let me know which pieces you need drawings/dimensions of, and I will be happy to help anyway I can.

Too bad this thread went dead!

I'm going EDF route with twin JF-120s. Received gear, wheels, brakes, and few sets of tires, swing wing brackets, pins, bushings, a full set of flying surfaces, bunch of misc glass parts, ect, ect. Thanks to MaHo, and Tempest, have the tracings I need to cut missing wood pieces, so I now have everything start building. I have 2 kits, and I'm thinking of building one with two sets of wings, a set of light weight wings (no flaps or spoilers) for initial flights, and maybe for everyday flying, and a scaled out set.

To that end, spoke with Don at Eureka, and he will be cutting cores, After I send him a set to copy, he will be able to cut cores for anyone else who needs them

Still hoping this thread starts showing some life, if not maybe I do my own thread on the other site

I started doing a little work last night on my Tomcat last night.. In the process of glassing in the main bulk head and designing rear main retract mounts as there were non included in the kit I have. One main retract is not straight (bought second hand) so will need some attention to get it right.. Might just bite the bullet and buy a new set..

Call Charles, he has one partial main retract (no strut) in his box of goodies. I don't remember if its a left or right, but it's new.

Andy,

I've got a lathe at home if that will help to straighten it out. failing that, there are some more capable equipment at work, so give me a yell if you need a hand with it.

Thanks

So after a long break from the Tomcat I decided it was time to get back into it.. Decided to make a couple of extra formers to add strength. These will run along side of the inlet ducts and attach to main Former.
