It was a good show, although I think attendance was down from last year.
Also, seemed like there were less models on display.
I really enjoyed the seminar on old time RC equipment. Brought back many happy memories.

The other three entries were also nicely done. The competition was closer this year than in previous years.
---------------------------- -----------------------------------
F8 Crusader Scratched------------------------------- BD-5-J F-4 -------------------------------------------------Phantom Turbine powered Kit bashed from the Great Planes Prop Jet!
Electric Jet
Kieth Shaw had a nice twin electric DF jet in the sport plane category, Always in years past, I thought the rules were NO Jets in any class but Jets. O Well....Maybe Electric don't count as a JET?............LOL
OOPS,............ Terry Nitsch's A-10 has BVM VioFans in it..................

I talked with owner of the F-8 Crusader and here are the details.
Designer and builder is Ed Hazlett from Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania. Ed is a Navy, Vietnam War veteran, who served on the USS Midway aircraft carrier. He was attached to VA-115 Intruder squadron as radar guy.
Details on Crusader :
Did all drawings from official L.T.V blueprints. They are in CAD now and he may make available for people who want to make kit.
The plane is all balsa and ply.
1/7 scale
Wingspan is 62 in
Length is 94 in
Weight is 18 lbs
Power is electric - TF-8000- 140 mill fan
Wing up-down for landing is functional as are tail hook and inflight refueling probe.
Landing gear is scale and also homemade

Yeah, I have always loved the Crusader, Built one of the Berkley .049 DF kits when I was a kid. It had a metal fan blade you had to bend to put the pitch in it.....LOL I would be interested in the plans too. Or maybe get us his contact info?????

Yeah.........LOL I even redesigned the Berkley Crusader in the 80s with a Midwest RK .049 fan unit and a TeeDee, for radio control. Used the ailerons to steer the nose wheel. Bungee launched it. Never got a completed flight as the TeeDee would quit every time I launched it. Almost hit myself several times as it would go up do a split ess and land coming back to me.................Those were the good ol' days........Ha Ha
