Default Replacement Suggestion for Airpower EV5U-PRO

I'm trying to gather all the electronics for a 1/8 Skymaster F16 on order and I noticed I can't find anyone selling the.Airpower EV5U-PRO valve anymore. Is there a suitable replacement? Even though I have a DX18 gen2 w/ built in sequencing I was hoping to keep weight down hey not adding all the servos.

Thanks!

EV5U-EVO was a really nice unit, however, some have been duds if you have a working one then keep it.

The alternative for you suprsonic is to perhaps use jet tronic valves and a sequencer.

The alternatives are

Xicoy pneumatic valves http://www.xicoy.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35_37
Jet-tronic http://www.jet-tronics.de/produkte.html
Evojets http://xtcm.evojets.de/index.php?cPa...1c172947119beb
Flyeaglejet http://www.flyeaglejet.com/en/Electronic.html

I have used all of these, the FEJ had metal turnings in the valve body which I had to remove as they blocked the outlet hole. I would not buy this one.

Personally I would always use separate units, if one part of the multivalve becomes inoperative the whole unit may be junk. I have found all these small electronic valves to be very reliable even the FEJ one when the metal particles were removed. The Xicoy units are the cheapest by far and electronic valves will be much lighter than having old fashioned mechanical valves and servos.

I would go with a up2 for gear and doors, up6 for brakes and tams failsafe.

I like the UP valves as well. I currently have 2 jets with over 10 years of flying still working using them. Never replaced or even worked on them. The only thing you might need to do is apply dow 55 to the o-rings after a long long time of using. Also several jets with 5 + years same great service. The models I have with the electronic valves work but have required replacement of valves over time. The biggest problem I have seen is mositure on the electronic valves. Our stock air pumps caused this. I have used small scuba bottle that solves that problem and tried the moisture traps but they get filled very quickly

I would use UP. It is even a cheap option now adays

Good Luck

hey, I have one in the Tomcat, and I'm thinking of replacing it with regular valves (2 double and a single) and use the internal sequencer on the powerbox.......
If you're interested, drop me a line.......

NO... HIS UNIT had an issue....and was replaced but of course, in "Disco World"... Everything is defective, overpriced and unusable.

UP2 or UP3, depending on your needs. Cheap, effective, easy. Really impressive unit

If it was set up in the correct sequence, his brake function would work as well. Brake signal only sent in gear down sequence, when sequence is reversed, brake signal is now functioning in the up position.....
Never use the brake output anyway, not needed for most installations, I only use the air input for brake pressure readings.
And YES... I'll happily take those GSF-150's back, have several customers wanting them and I could use one myself. And for the record, we have not seen a charge-back from a single customer in numerous years!?
Maybe time to find a new hobby Disco?

You guys are great! Thanks for the advice. I think I'll go with the UP valves and use the sequencer in the DX18.

The UP does gear and doors. UP 2or3 depending on if you want doors open with gear down or if you want doors closed with gear down

sequencing in the dx18 is awesome. a little programming and it's done. have to program both directions. works great with electric gear and servo operated doors. could use simple robart valves and a mini servo.

have been using EV5s for a while now, and for that size F-16 it has become a must have. It helps keep things neat and tight. Never had an issue with the valve, nor with dreamworks rc.
Trust me on a 1/8 F-16, its the way to go.

As expected you have decided not to take them back, Dreamworks has no customer service and will happily sell you junk products.
