Hey hope you haven't bent it!

You must have quite a few flights on that Hawk by now..

Have started your 1:4 pitot tonight, seeing that this one is first 1:4 I have made is seems massive after doing many CARF ones!
Please can you check distance from headlight lens to edge of moulding (where pitot fits in the moulding)

Paul, Toby and Extraviking all will be in post in the morning.

Have finished your 1:4 AW pitot, hope to get it into the post tomorrow morning.
The insert I have made is 6mm, if this has to be changed for any reason I will make you another one as this is the first 1:4 etc
Degrease the insert and glue in with Hysol, leave a few thou proud so when you tighten up the probe it tightens onto the insert and not the moulding etc the very small gap will not be noticeable. It will appear as if it tightens up to the moulding.

John

Looks like your LIVE 1:4.5 pitot has worked out, not easy to drill but used Jet A1 as lubricant.
Drilled hole is 2.5mm at the inlet for 20mm then it goes down to 2mm for rest of the pitot. I had to drill the M4 stainless mounting thread separately but again at 2mm there should be prenty of strength left to do the job.
Just have to make the insert, what size pipe you thinking of using? I am thinking the BVM 1/8th pink/purple stuff that we use on the air valves etc let me know

Alan

Tested with BVM small air pipe and you can with a bit of patience make it fit, so if you need a bit bigger ie festo that should also fit...
No seal required for pitot > insert as when screwed together there is no leak.

Hi Alan,
I picked up a new airspeed sensor form Jeti in Nuremberg. Ideally I would like to feed air down the scale inlet th the calibrated probe. The hole in the front of the probe is about 1mm so this should work OK. I will make up a braket to allow the 4mm bolt to fit in and also to hold the probe I will just have to be sure that the alignment is good.
Unfortunately I can't get the pictures to enlarge, so I can't see your work properly, but I am sure I can make it work.

Hi John

If you want me to machine anything to make the probe fit to the new sensor let me know.

Could you not fit the insert I have made and connect the end of the insert to your new sensor with a very sort piece pipe?

I have blown down the complete length and to be honest there is not a lot of resistance with the hole being 2mm so it should be able to supply pressure ok to your sensor.

Alan
