Trouble loading Update 0001-0005
Hi guys! I downloaded the latest 28X firmware update today and, after trying everything that I can think of, can not get the software to install. I reformatted my JR 4GB SD card and created a new folder called JR and then dropped the VERUP_ANDROID folder in the JR folder. I inserted the SD card into the radio...get to the Software Update location, press OK...and nothing happens. I have read through the Guide for Software Updates and cannot find anything that I am doing wrong.
I switched to JR in 1993 with a X388S, upgraded to an X9303 in 2006, then ordered the 28X on Black Friday 2014. I received it in May 2015 and have not used it since I received it. I realize that it is a complex radio; however, what makes it bad for me is that I have a lack of confidence in it right now. The difficulty I am having in updating the firmware does not help with my lack of confidence in the 28X. Just FYI...I'm a KSC worker and am the lead fluids engineer on NASA's recent Crawler Transporter upgrade and other SLS design programs. I am hoping I am on the right side of the intelligence bell curve, but this radio is making me wonder if maybe I'm not.
Can anybody help me make this work? I am wondering if there is a small error that I am making or if there are additional files that need to be on the SD card. Thank you in advance for any assistance any of you can provide.
Rob

Try starting the update as the first thing you do after a hard reboot (plug in power cord will force a hard reboot). This is the only way updates work for me. Otherwise I get no response when pushing the update button.
I have installed 0006 without issue, but wb1 is correct on reported issues with this version.

Warbird_1 and spike5050,
Thank you for the advice. I powered up the transmitter this morning (after it had been off for 8 hours) and tried the update...and it updated as advertised. So, spike5050, your hard reboot advice seems to have been what was needed. I will make a note of that step in my procedure for future updates. I'll keep a lookout for the next update. Thank you again!

I'll take a look at the video! I am not yet looking at using Xbus, but we'll see down the road. I added my music and image files this morning and found out that, again, a hard reboot is necessary for the 28X transmitter to recognize the files on the SD card. So, hard reboots are very necessary for reading files with the 28X.
Thanks again for the help.

Before you take out the SD card you have to "Unmount" it then when you put it back in "Mount" it or the system won't see the changes ,
a hard reboot should not be needed, you have to do this when adding pictures of your models.

We finally got to the bottom of the interference issues that our club was experiencing, but unfortunately I am not allowed to elaborate at this stage.
All I can say is that "one" of the DMSS issues was due to an unfortunate coincidence (a classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time). In-fact, if anyone else had be flying at the same time it is doubtful their 2.4 RF would have survived the threat.
As for the other issue - well it's possibly due to the previously known software bug.
Ironic how the hobby has moved away from 35 and 72 MHz and yet this system would have been just fine on the day. I still fly my original BVM Composite Bandit on 72.
Regards to ALL.

If the update really did cause controls to reverse and there isn't a release note clearly explaining this behavior, I would consider this to be a major bug and I would revert that firmware immediately. If they really couldn't even get servo reversing correct then they clearly never even tested this release and there is no way I would fly with it..

Are you certain that this happened because of the firmware update and not because of a change that didn't get backed up to the SD card ?
