Would somebody please explain what happened to the big Hawk. Or point me to the post that explains it if there is one.

FenderBean says "Fire". Never mind.

Thanks.

Why is everyone so concerned about the crashes? Can never figure that one out Had a great time at JOK. Lewis and the crew did a superb job of putting on an amazing event. Thanks to the guys who were controlling the flight line..You guys did an awesome job communicating to the pilots and keeping everyone safe, not to mention the hours you put in. Very well put on event. Can't say enough great things about JOK. Really hope to be able to attend next year.

If you have the same airframe that went in it raises concern if the same could happen to you; If people didn't discuss crashes issues with FEJ would not have come to light. Its part of the hobby and a learning process.

One of the nice things about RCU is the opportunity to learn what not to do, learn what equipment to buy, what equipment to avoid. Why am I concerned about crashes/mishaps? Because I want to learn from other pilots' experiences. I am a newbie jet owner and want to soak up all the information I can about jets.

I was going to buy a Hawk as my 2nd jet .... so ..... when I heard there was a Hawk mishap I was intensely interested in finding out what happened and how to avoid such a mishap. I would appreciate hearing as much detailed information as I can about this mishap so I can learn and so I can be safe.

Was it a "hot start" ?

Jet caught fire inflight, and landed safely but was a complete loss. I dont know anymore than that, when things catch fire its normally a pipe failure or fuel leak. That being said it could have been a lipo if equiped as well but thats about it. Its much better to ask who it was and just send them a private message, I have found that a much better way to get the facts here on RCU. I agree about this place and the knowledge, which if you know me im all about helping folks learn and learning myself. The hawk is a great jet and after awhile you will see which jets are usually a winner since SOOOOOOOO many people have them. Cheers! and welcome to Jets by the way!

My 2 cents...

The best way to learn about any jet aircraft, their track record, & flight capabilities is to personally attend these jet events, experience their takeoffs, landings, & in flight performance...then talk with the owners, pilots, & manufacturers concerning any updates, changes, or improvements.

I registered & attended Florida Jets for 4 years before participating as a pilot for the last 6 years...priceless experience as I began flying different airframes & attending events in Georgia, NC, Virginia, & Kentucky.

Great event and had a great time!!!! Lewis and Marvin and the entire crew did a great job. Had allot of fun with everyone. Even with the rain I managed to get 40 flights in. Most on the F16 and a few on others planes.

The BVM F16 was flawless. Only thing I had to do was change the tires because they where worn slap out. Between Barry and I sharing it and putting it through it paces it did very well. Between the 2 of us it probably did close to 50 flights over the week. I did nothing but change the main tires. What a great aircraft.

Already looking forward to next year. Barry picked up a HUGE electric lightning for me to start building on. So going to get that one going for the next flying season
