Default WOW Another Quad copter flying where it shouldn't

Hi folks
I guess some if not most have allready heard on the news that a quadcopter was found on the White House grounds! Sorry to say that we have a few idiots in this hobby whether they are in the AMA or not. These idiots are going to ruin it for all in the rc hobby and get us completly shut down. Especially if it happens to take down a full scale aircraft. I certainly hope it doesn't happen, but the odds are working against us .

0300 hours at the WH.... this was not your typical stupid. Plus would have to be a FPV configuration I would think. Unless not all involved are on the same page and someone part of the WH establishment was out testing a new proposed piece of security equipment. Either that or.....someone(s) is/are doing a "test" run for something in the "planning" stages.

http://time.com/3682307/white-house-drone-crash/

"Preliminary investigations traced the drone back to an unnamed government employee, who told the Secret Service that he lost control of a drone while flying it for recreational purposes near the White House compound at approximately 3 a.m."

Gee... do you think the government employee might loose his job

He should have read this thread first and would have got the idea to say that he was giving it a test run to see if it could be used as a new piece of security equipment at the WH.

It wont be long until a drone is used to kill someone, on purpose. Could you imagine if that drone had been carrying an explosive device?

And Model Aviation Magazine seems like a catalogue for drone stuff. What an oxymoron.

"Either that or.....someone(s) is/are doing a "test" run for something in the "planning" stages"

Certainly not out of the question considering the big bulls eye the USA has on it back! It could be a means of setting up the RC community to take a fall...., solve's the federal debate over RC airspace usage..., that option is always in play!

It need's to stop or we'll be lucky to fly a paper airplane when it's all said and done! Many business's will fall........... Many will be stuck sitting on thousands of dollars' of worthless equipment.

Like myself..., IMAC/Pattern birds/Heli's, etc........

I wish the media would find out if these individuals that are doing these stunts are in the AMA. Hope not!! In this case since the person showed up and said it was his Quadcopter, you would think someone would have asked if he was in the AMA or not!I would be curious to know if we have some members that are acting stupid

I will let this one run for a while as the incident raises the likelihood of increased restrictions on RC.

From what I've been reading lately, the individual responsible is a government employee but was on his or her off time flying it when the incident occurred. And I would bet this individual is not AMA.

This one crashed on a parking lot in Tijuana last Tuesday at less than 1 kilometer from the border between US and Mexico.
3 kg of payload.

It appears that ZERO is taking this with a grain of salt and looking at it like it should be looked at. I heard him speak saying they shouldn't view this in an overblown manner, that these "drones" are a huge industry for the hobby stores and also are being used by farmers now etc.

An inside source has told me that the Secret Service and the Border Patrol has ordered 5000 of these miniature "Predators" to shoot down the Drones and Phantoms...
