I had the same issues, my problem was the tube in the fuselage that the anti rotation carbon tube slides into being glued in slightly crooked so things did not line up with the hole in the wing. Right side took just a minor adjustment to be fine, but on the left side it now fits a bit sloppy through the boom and in the fuselage as I had to drill out the boom hole and tube in the fuselage to get the carbon tube to enter the hole in the wing. Ends have been chamfered to ease entry. I really should replace the tube in the fuselage for a perfect fit but it works OK as is so I have not bothered to fuss with it yet.

I did as well, the Pin off the boom, would not align with wing hole.
had to sand out the Boom holes.

OK, what I see there should align with a small flex, but will get Ripmax to talk to the factory as it should all line up.

Hello Dave, the screws have not been used in the booms! I wanted little movement during initial assembly. The right wing, boom and fuselage matches well, however very tight. The left rotation tube will not allow the wing slide into place. Removing the rotation tube allows the left assembly to match well. I think the rotation tube holes in the wing and boom need to be slightly enlarged aft to allow the fit to be achieved. It really is not an immovable object. I wanted to get some input. Thanks gentlemen.

Dave,

My plus too has the problem with the anti rotation pins making everything too tight. On both sides I can only get the wings on 90% of the way. It's all too tight to slide all the way on. Not too worried about that though. Good information though, glad I'm not the only one with the issue. I do have a question though. In your flying of the plus thus far have you ever flown with a gyro or feel the need to use a gyro in any way on this plane? I've never flown with one before, but then again I've never flown a jet before. Just looking for opinions on the subject.

Thanks,
Brian

I don't use a gyro on the plus, the longer booms and higher tail compared to the std keep the turbine swirl away from the tail/rudders, and the percentage increase in area helps further.
At JetPower here Friday it was very rough air and for the first time my Plus did get kicked around as it's quite lightly loaded, it is a big aeroplane for around 14kg. It does not need aileron or elevator gyros, but a powerbox 1e on the rudders would make it even smoother.

Dave,
You referred to a powerbox on the rudders! What is a powerbox is it like a yaw damper?

Cam anyone tell me what these 4 plywood plates are for? They are about 3" x 1" x 0.25".

Shims for engine installation, to get the turbine to sit at the proper height in the model.

As for the shims since they were brought up, do you have to use them all (2 on each side) or does it depend on the turbine being used. Just curious.

Depends on the turbines used.....ie I have the k100 and used all 4, with a smaller diam I could have used only 1 per side.

Well, just checked mine for parts fit since you guys have mentioned the issues with the wings. My left wing went on perfectly but the right was a struggle. I got it on but man, is it a tight fit. I am going to have to do some very light sanding and see if that helps.

Its a single access rudder gyro.

any 112 (4 1/2") turbine will use 2 spacers per side. You can see in my build pics

Is the wing tight because of the wing clamps? I had to sand the end of my carbon tube-that's normal

I enjoyed flying the Plus at Jetpower on Saturday, the wind was horrible on Friday, but Saturday was nice conditions.

My anti rotation pins do not fit either, if you stick them in the fuse they are canted. They do not come out at 90deg to the wing root

Dave, I was not using any of the bolts to hold things together. I was just sliding the wings on the tubes. Like I said, the left wing went on like a charm and the right was very, very tight but it did go all the way on. I am thinking it is going to take a little sanding with some fine sandpaper. I think what Reever was saying is more of the issue. Somehow, they misaligned the anti-rotation pins in the fuse. I mean something must be going on because it is not an isolated case. Something in the jig must be off or there's something else going on but there is obviously an issue.

Looks like its the latest batch only, all our kits seem fine. Ripmax are talking with the factory.

At JP I managed to stage this late on Saturday.

The build of my Xcaliber Plus is progressing extremely slow. Real life has been interfering quite some times

I finally choose to go for the electric retract option and got myself a kit from Electron, which is under development at this moment.

In order to fit the retracts some adapter plates of 3mm carbon were made, which think will be part of the future kit

Not an ideal solution, but it works nonetheless and it limits the amount of work needed to fit them.

No flying test done yet, as the rest is progressing in the same awfully slow place

Hello Dave,

Is it possible to purchase the X+ airframe only (without LG)?

Yes, its just the package saves a lot over each part bought separately . The accessories are a perfect fit and as known, I don't favour electric gear yet.The kit only is listed at £999.98 inc UK 20% tax.
Biggest problem is shipping as the box is huge!

Dave, just wondering if you heard anything from the factory on why the wings are fitting so tightly on the planes we are getting here in the states. Just wonder what the difference is between the ones you got in the UK and the ones we are getting here.
