Electric brake and landing gear mounting plates. If I break those out I fear that they will be other damage elsewhere
It can be done my landings with the big Dolphin is what lead to the trailing links being introduced....the trailing links should minimize this!

Zonker,
I see you posted photos of the controller for the electric gear. i just received 2 Dolphin S both with electric gear. It is pretty clear to me how to make the gear work, but I have no clue how to hookup the brakes to the controller. Any ideas? No directions for brakes came with mine.
thanks,
Steve

There is no brake controller built into the retract controller. The retract controller has only one input going to the RX. You would have to have a second to operate brakes.
My first thought was that using a y harness u might operate the brakes straight from the receiver. Having a thought just a second later u would have the brakes operating in the ON position all the time unless you install a ON/OFF switch between the RX and the brakes.

The other thing is that their needs to be a way to have the ability to make the brakes proportional or regulate voltage to keep from flat-spotting the tires. I am pretty sure that applying RX voltage straight to the magnets will lock the brakes.

I have spoken with Eric and he is making contact with Fei Boa.. It will be first of next week before we might hear anything due to the Chinese Holidays.

I'm not sweating it right now, Eric will get back to us on it.

Take Care,
Mike

I was setting up a Satellite receiver for my Jeti system and decided that the nose would be a great location as there is no CF in the very front.
The problem is there was no place to mount anything so I came up with a receiver / antenna mount that I Velcro'd into the nose so it could be removed for service.

Mike:

In conversation with Fei Bao, I am informed the electric brakes controller is in production and will be available soon. Further, I am meeting with Catherine and Andy at Florida Jets next week. I will have more info at that time. Thanks for the question. . .and your patience.

Regards,
Eric

Well the Dolphin S is packed and ready for the long drive to FL Jets, with any luck it will be theer by noon Tuesday.
I decided to mount my Cortex gyro before packing, the Cortex comes with double sided foam tape which is only good for one installation, so I decided to make a gyro mount

Well the Dolphin S was put through it paces at FL Jets at the hands of Jim Hiller, Jim told me that this is another winner!

I basically set the throws up like the Big Brother Dolphin, set the C.G. the same at 28% MAC, Jim said the CG was perfect.

I will publish the final throws as soon as I unpack the Dolphin from the box.
Thanks to Bob Engle for the great photos

The factory has cut in the control openings in the stab and fin on production models, the prototype was not supplied with the pre-cut slots.

Would someone mind taking the dimensions of the worm gear (I assume that is what FB uses) in their Dolphin S? I have a few airframes I think they would well in. Is their a manual out for this one? Thanks

Not sure what you are referring to...worm gear in what? Are you talking about the electric retracts?

As far as the manual, I am still working on it, hope to have by the end of the month.

Yes in the retract, I thought it was called a worm gear motor. I have replaced several air cylinders with electric and was going to buy a set through FB. I work for the largest winding wire producer in the world (Also called magnet wire) and we have a lab that does a nice job of testing these motors to failure. I ordered a Dolphin (not the S) and hopefully will go to electric in the future. The S electric gear motors most likely are not strong enough for the large Dolphin and hopefully in time they will have developed something I can test. I have some airframes that I think the Dolphin S motors will work. Thanks

Just finished putting this one together for Eric. It was a fun easy build. The Wood kit really helps with the install.
