Default Airpower retracts spare parts..? Trunnion mainly for RA-210 /250 nose gear..

Hi.

I got a Skymaster F-15 EDF version with their scale gear, which is actually RA-250 Airpower retracts.

Now I got a problem with nose gear trunnion, which is sadly pretty soft alloy piece of ****. Airpower has offered an upgraded trunnion made by Sierra Giant , 7075 aircraft grade alloy part.

But as it seems that Airpower is out of business nowadays its pretty hard to get the parts!

I tried SKymaster Spain, Skymaster directly (they wanted to sell the whole retract unit , but it still has the soft trunnion..) , tzimport.com in Sweden and I also tried contacting Sierra Giant (no reply so far, tried twice) and so far I am out of luck.

So can anyone point me in the right direction or do you have spares lying around which you could sell?

Thanks!

Thanks , I asked them about it and its for mains only, nose gear needs a groove and hole for centering spring. But it might be doable myself. 26£ is pretty steep price in euros nowadays, with shipping its near 40€ for a single piece..

Sierra has not responded to emails and Dreamworks is out of stock too. If someone does not pick up the remains of Airpower production line then all AP product support vanishes

Ceeray,

I have a RA250 Nose retract. It's used, maybe 50 flights. The trunion is the original Airpower one and is in good shape. The RA250 accommodates an 11.1 mm. (7/16 inch) strut, and this one is a 90 degree retract.

Are you sure that's what you need? The RA250 seems rather light duty for a Skymaster F-15. I don't know what it would cost to send it to Finland. Just reimburse me for the postage fees and you can have it.

Regards,
Joe

Thats the right one Joe! I have the smalled edf version F-15 which is 7.3kg AUW. So thats why the smaller retracts. I'll take the deal , USPS should cost around 10-15$ in padded envelope. Send me your paypal account info and details and I'll give you 25$ for the retract incl. Shipping.

CHARLYJET: thanks for the offer, I got your email but forgot to reply sorry. The ra-450 is too large and I need the 11.1 mm strut hole. Thanks anyway!

Hi,

I ordered several SM retract parts from Skyline-Hobby Co., Ltd in Nov 2014. After 2 weeks of waiting, they sent me a paypal invoice which I made full payment.

After that all my emails to them (at least 4) to check on the status of my order went unanswered. The parts never arrived.

I had lodged a claim through paypal early this year, but have yet to receive any refunds.

Don't buy from Skyline-Hobby!

Rgs,
Isaac

Hi all,

The Airpower part that i am seeking is a replacement for the nose wheel steering pin (6mm diameter with a small groove on one end for a C-clip).

The closest I had found was 1/4 inch pins but I do not have access to a lathe to turn it down.

Any help to locate a vendor with stocks for this part is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Isaac

Hi Charlyjet,

Can you help? I navigated to http://skymasterspain.es

But I cannot find the 6mm steering axle that you showed in the pic above. Can you point me to the page? It is also a problem for me to navigate the website as I do not know Spanish language.

Thanks.

Isaac

I think that this is a general problem with anything sourced out of China. They make a batch of some product and then that is it. there does not seem to be any sense of a need for back up regarding spare parts. I have been waiting for retract parts for my Jet Legend Mig 29 since March 2014. I have no idea if I will ever get the spare parts I need to get the model back in the air.

John

It would probably be cheaper and quicker and a lot less frustrating just to get the parts made. On the Viperjet I have the nose leg steering pin was bent and the first thing I did was to make one out of some 6mm ground rod I had lying around. All I had to do was temper the top end and turn a thin groove to take a C washer. Not sure what part you have that is damaged?

Some of the cast parts are broken John. I do not know a company that can make parts like this.
