So I got to use this today. Took some doing to get the set up right and make sure I had accurate measurements. Next time will be faster.

But I have to say I HATE IT!!! Turns out my plane weighs more than I thought it did!! Just like my bathroom scale, the truth hurts!!!!!

Oh well, at least now the thing is balanced correctly!!

Just to let you know that from today that our CGMeter has become wireless, it is available with a Bluetooth module that allows to use an Android or Apple smartphone or tablet.

Correct, only the Bluetooth module.

The app for Android is already available in Google Play, the app for Apple was sent yesterday to the AppleStore, but the approval process take 3-4 days, I expect it will be available this weekend.

Android version here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jgs.cgm

Does anyone have measurements for a Sebart Avanti S for the Xicoy CG machine ? I've measured and think I have things CG'd properly but if someone has numbers I could compare to as a sanity check I'd appreciate it.. Hoping to Maiden the Avanti in the AM..

The numbers I came up with are:

Distance Front-mains: 806mm
Distance Mains-CG: 50mm
Distance mains to weight placement: 1170mm.

With a Kingtech K140G as far forward as possible, 2, 25002S A123 receiver packs and a 3S 2500A123 pack in the nose is wants about 6oz in the nose to get CG to 250mm behind leading edge..

Very Nice, Gaspar! Will the Bluetooth Module be available for a separate purchase for those of us who already have the scale?

BT adapter arrived today. Not much chance to use it beyond just some fooling around. But it seems pretty nice so far. Display on the phone is also nice!!

Got my unit in last week, (not blue tooth) but seems to work really well. I went down to my local copy/print shop and had them make me up a 3'x 6' fine line grid of 1" squares on the full sheet of 3' x 6' paper. Since its basically a cad program it has very accurate lines. I then had them laminate it in clear plastic so it will last for years. This makes your measuring process much easier to do. I simply lay the grid sheet out on the table an set my plane on it aligning the main wheel axles on one of the lines and then measure to the nose gear line. If you mark the bottom of the wing or fuse where the CG is or where you want it to be then either a right angle tool or a plumb line down to the grid will allow you to simply mark the grid and then take your measurements, Simple. It also works awesome for being able to check toe-in on the mains as well as overall alignments by use of long straight edges against the wheels or axles.
The grid sheet of this size was about $25.00 including lamination.

Yep, it just makes it so easy to extend your measurements out to a straight line. Then pull out the smart phone for inch to mm conversion numbers.

I have only had this tool for just over a week and could not imagine being without it. Back in the day with the smaller jets/props it was not as much an issue but now it is almost impossible to do it with out this tool. It is as important a tool in my opinion as the Dremel.

How do I know which US vendors have the latest version of the xicoy cg meter? Also, are there any US vendors that carry the Bluetooth version (seem to cost a little less). Thanks

Talked to my Apple "guru" and he suggested to put the phone in vertical position to display the missing buttons. If this don't work, let me know the model of your phone so that we can reproduce the issue here.

I just fired up my new BT Deluxe CG machine from Ultimate Jets today.

I re-weighed and CG'd my 1/5 Skymaster F-16. The display is big and easy to use on my iPad. It calculated exactly the weight and CG that my old postal scale and spreadsheet method did, but WOW so much faster and so easy.

I will never go back. This thing is great. I'm really glad I got it. I also love the neat carry case it came in, easy to take to the field. Have not yet used the angle sensors. Looking forward to using them in the future.

Highly recommended,

Gary
