While since I posted, but I'm working on this and other models together. DJ sent me the last parts last week so I now have no excuses! A nice tailpipe former mount and some 90 degree retract nipples.
Rudders are now operational. A torque rod needed fitting, this is the process.

Rudder linkage and Ailerons completed. Radio tray epoxied and primed. The two cut-outs are for nose wheel and retract unit access.

Now we're talking.....glad to see you're progressing. I look forward to seeing the remainder of the assembly and the methods you use.

Been massively underachieving with lots of weekend shows that run into 4 days. I actually started work on it again yesterday, it will be a straight run now as it needs to be done. Will report as I make progress. Sunday is scheduled as a building day as for once I only have a one day show to visit

Finally making good progress.
Derjet say the P-100Rx is idea for the F-35 and from a low weight option, I'm sure its perfect, I can't help thinking a 120-140 would be better, so decided to use a spare P-90Rxi for the initial install as I can easily swap to a P-140Rxi and if needed still go to the lighter P-100Rx. This prototype kit will be a little heavier than production versions, so it will be a good test-it has a stack of area, so I'm not worried.

Glassed all the wood work and made up the fuel tanks. Shape is great, so Felt or weight clunks should work. Derjet supply a hopper tank that is best mounted vertically, this can be behind the radio tray as there is plenty of space. Alternatively a std MAP/BVM type hopper will fit neatly along side the radio tray.

Nose leg steering is done, there is little trail, so small movements are best.

Elevator linkage. Although the factory have done a great job getting everything 90 degrees the angular movement of the servo would mean the rod flexing as it swings. Actually servo movement is quite small requiring a short arm, so it would probably be OK, but I decided to widen the two control horns and put a swinging M3 ball link in place.

Hi Dave,
Just curious if you'd had a chance to work any more on this plane? I have one hopefully arriving in Hawaii later this month!
Enjoy,
Len

Been painfully slow progress through no fault of the aeroplane, I had hoped to have it ready now, its really close but time is still restricted. I'll be able to help you with your build, a lot of the manual is written and I have photos. Will post more here soon. You can also email me at [email protected] and I'll directly answer any questions. Looks like test flying will have to wait until after JetPower, but if a chance occurs I'll let you know!

Everyone who comes into my shop loves the F-35, of the modern fighters it has character!

Hi Dave, I just got settled after the Blue Angels show we did here last weekend and I unpacked the F-35A today... AWESOME!!! Double throw down gorgeous paint, well packed, in fact the only damage was the stick in the cockpit was broken off a the base. CA'd it on and the rest is beautiful. Anynews on the manual or at least a potential CG location? It won't be too hard to guesstimate it I'd imagine. Did you ever get yours out and airborne? DerJet did a magnificent job on this plane!!!

Yes, I had my model at JetPower and it certainly got a lot of attention, people liked it a lot. I've still not found the time to finish the last details and fly it. I've had a few family distractions and the busy season stopping me finishing it. If you email me at [email protected] I'll email you the parts of the manual I have finished and we can then easily talk about any questions.

The initial balance point is approx 1 1/4" infront of the hatch lip

Best Regards

Dave

Has anyone actually completed and flown one of these models. Might be a good candidate for a winter project but would like a little more information/history before proceeding.

Barring any unforseen issues, it should be ready to fly in a month or so, just about the time Obama's presence shut us down for Xmas...hoping to get the maiden flight in before he arrives Dec 18.
