This is horrible. I cant believe and don't think its a modeler in lets say our core group. Or the guys we all see at all the jet events and our friends. Has to be some random person but seems like they did it at the perfect time when most of us were at the banquet? Did this person know that or just a coincidence ? Nothing worse than someone who takes something they did not work for. I hate crooks !!! Whoever did this must own a small island or live in a country that no one has heard of? They cant sell it we all know everyone, what are they going to do with it? I myself am a little more into locking car doors etc at the big events. Not at all worried about a modeler but a stranger just walking by. Everyone at our 2 jet events up here always know I leave my car open and if you know me you know I hate to carry a wallet and theirs always hundreds of dollars in my car and I don't give it a thought. I trust my jet group and most other jet guys without issue. I only lock my doors when the spectators come on Saturdays but that's it. I'm sorry Eric that this happened and maybe if we all keep our eyes open we can find something out ????

Everyone keeps assuming that it was a modeler. i bet a 100 bucks it was a stray spectator. i find it hard to believe a modeler would steal a plane like this knowing that they could never fly it anywhere it wouldn't be recognized. A few years back when i was at FJ i saw a lot of wanderers roaming around after the event ended for the day. Even up to dark. just my thoughts . never the less it's a terrible thing when something that valuable gets taken. I wonder if home owners insurance would cover something like that. WB_1

Warbird - you're probably right. I can't imagine another pilot - let alone a JET pilot - someone who appreciates the work, time, money and love that goes into these planes - doing that to another pilot. Especially, as you say, as it would be tough to fly that anywhere public without being recognized. And most places you can fly jets are pretty public. btw - does anyone know what that jet is worth? I'm not a jet guy (yet) but my guess would be $25,000. Am I far off? Point being - pretty sure that's Grand Larceny. Seems like the thief could get some serious prison time, if charges were pressed and he was convicted.

I hope I am wrong but I seems like it may be a person who sell that brand of Jets. This jet could be marketed by a number of different people. Maybe they thought the could sell it as a new kit to someone that want to place the order and never let the Manufacture know. I don't think there is any way to track it.
There maybe more to it also. Maybe a beef with in the ranks?
The reason I believe that is what Frank has said about the person is someone that everyone would know and has seen at the events.

Not sure why so many of you are shocked that someone would be dishonest? No one here has experienced dishonesty connected with buying jets, paying builders etc? Really? I have, in fact dishonesty has been the rule not the exception. This is the price one has to pay to get into this segment of the hobby. It was an expensive education, now, as a businessman I'm doing something about it. Cheers

Do you mean you are getting out of RC jets because you're sick of getting ripped off? or do you mean you are stealing jets to offset what you perceive is being stolen from you?
I'm not trying to be offensive or accusational here, I just find that a weird turn of phrase to use.
