Default Metal morphing a 1/4 scale Mig 15

Hello all,
I thought I would post some photos of a new project I'm working on, it's a 1/4 scale Mig and it here to get aluminum plated with our process. I also have the BVM F100 that we aluminum plated some 6 years ago and its here to get the repairs finalized after its maden mishap.
Ill keep the photos flowing and I'll try not to bore you with the technical aspects of our plating process.

photo 1 The BVM on its maden flight. We will have it looking as good and even better!!
photo 2. George's Mig 15 getting prepped for plating
photo 3 My P-38 lighting

Its good to be back and enjoy.

Ron

Thank you,
Its even more impressive in person. I just got it back from my playing dept. today and should have it polished out by the end of the week. I have a few areas on the wings like the stars and bars that will need to be painted, once that's done I'll take some new photos and post them

Hi Ron it's Vin...I'm glad Joey sent the Hun to be repaired. The mishap happened at our field in phx. It's a gorgeous looking jet. Tell brother Dave I said hi :-)

Ron,

What's the dry weight of this hun? How much weight your aluminium process add on a bvm f-100

when I talk to Dave I'll let him know you were asking about him.

Vin your going to love this!!
We finished this cobra last month, it a fiberglass cobra with our aluminum plating applied to the body, then painted and detailed to a concept drawing called the P-51 cobra complete with working Merlin side exhaust tips
This was a fun project, I believe it's going to SEMA

Note our custom made 50 cal. Sequential signal lights

Is that an authentic Daytona on the lift in the first photo?

Got the first of the Migs parts back from our plating dept. and on my bench to be polished.
The black coating is just oxidation that forms during the flash cool and is easily removed with steel wool.
Since we use what we call Micro plating on the model aircraft to keep weight at a minimum it also helps preserve the details that are applied before plating. More details can be added after plating simply by using the hot iron technique.

Thanks Ron for posting up some pics. Ever scene I saw Andy's bvm f-86, I knew what I was going to do with the mig. I had a friend or two tell me to just flight metal it, being it will be cheaper. But after you told me the weight added to the plane was going to be so minor there was no way I wasn't going to do it then. The rudder looks great. For the first part back. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the plane next week.
For those who have not seen how large this mig is from flytechnique here is a pic or two as well.

I just got the fuselage on my work station and need to de-oxidize it and get both the mig and the F-100 ready for a secondary metal. Stainless steel was used as gun port blast pads on the Mig and the F-100 has a darker grade of metal in the center sections of the wing. I'll post more photos soon

From the small amount of research I have done on the Mig 15 I have found that all most all of them are weathered aluminum so not much will be polished on George's Mig

Progress photos show that the Mig is now plated in our aluminum and the black oxidation has been removed.
Its very impressive already!! Next it gets a few areas plated in stainless steel.
More photos soon

Ron I think it's going to be a head turner once you get it done. If we can get the same colors as the full scale with this plane all I can say is wow. Thanks for taking in the project for me. I can't wait to get it back here finished up.

Metalmorph is simply fantastic. The F-89 is still a show stopper.

That's a long long drive out there from Alabama. But I will have to keep that open. If I could fine someone over this way that want to ride out as well it would make the trek easier.

Got to ship at least 4 of the 6. Still think it's going to require a road trip.
