hey for the guys that have the sears handheld one are you noticing any difference in PSI on the indicator and your air gauge in the jet? Mine seems to be off 20+ PSI even after I hit the calibaration. I had an error message on mine but it went away and I am thinking about returning mine and getting another. Has anyone noticed this?
Yes I do, Im using a BVM adapter. 20 lbs or so seems right. I believe what my EV5 says, The sears dial is a nice to have IMHO.

Not the cheapest or the most expensive, I say upper middle end. the price has gone down to.

Well sears had the 19.2v compressor priced pretty high through Black Friday and Cyber Monday at around $60. Today however it's at a pretty good price at $38. Just a heads up.

I have been using this pump since 1998, and now have two of them. I replaced my batteries with ones from BatteryMart.com. Only $14.95, which is about ten bucks cheaper than at the local hobby shop. http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-7ah...ent=1130-cyber
One of the switches failed, but I replaced it with a much better switch from my junk box.

Ok I have only been in this hobby going for 4.5 years now with the last 3 or so with big war birds and several jets.
I started with some cheap pump I had.
Then I noticed the guys at the feild were using the $29 Habbor Freight pump
Well I think my 2nd one is on its way out. I have been using a 2200 4s lipo and I tend to fill my jets to 110 psi most with 2 tank systems
So you guys tell not to buy cheap so what are my options?
Thanks

$20 Slime portable from Walmart. Cut the lighter plug off and added a Deans plug to use 1000-1300mah LiPo battery that fits into the top compartment. Small, light, one battery lasts all day or all weekend, and much lighter that my old 12v gel cell brick.

I been using a cheap harbor freight $10 yellow pump for over 15 years. BUT........The first one I had lasted a three days. The connecting rod broke. I took it apart made a new piston and rod put it back together and been using ever since. Guess my $100,000 machine shop was worth the money. I still have an extra one that I haven't even opened the package yet. It easy, pumps up to 200 lbs.Takes about 30 seconds to fill the air tanks to 125 lbs, in my jets.

Anybody come up with a high quality solution? I'm using a McMaster-Carr HP version that's good to 150psi. I needed that to move my CARF Tucano retracts but now that I'm flying BVM stuff, the high pressure is no longer needed. My pump is throwing a fuse every so often and after investigation, I've found its moisture in the cylinder. A solution is to place some Marvel Mystery oil or BVM oil into the cylinder every so often or just keep a bunch of blade fuses around. It's a great system but it's all tentative on the basketball needle/air tubing interface which seems fragile although I've never broken it. What would be nice is something that steps down from the initial tire interface to our tiny 2mm tubing that's strong.

Look on Ebay. I found some GAST pumps that were small, but worked great. I had 4, and sold 3 on another website you can't trust. It's a brushless DC motor. I use a cheap speed controller to power it. The pump itself is a vane pump, with teflon vanes. I think
it's used in military applications, in aircraft. It can go to 100 lb preassure, but that's the max. The person wanted $65, I offered him $25 ea. It works OK at 12 V, but at 24 works fantastic. It's been a while, but last time I looked he still had them. I think it said it had like 400 to sell.

I use a Viair 350C. It's very high capacity, and works great. I use two 11.1 lipo batteries linked parallel, and get outstanding performance. Made the purchase through Amazon. I have dual large canisters on all my big planes, and this is the one for me! Mounted it in a tool box.

I spent months looking for a high quality, simple to use, compact, rechargeable field compressor. The result, our DMP "Perfect Field Compressor"
It comes with an internal battery for use on the go and it has a AC charger and DC aux power / charging cord for field charging. This small, lightweight pump includes a digital pressure display and has a programmable auto shut-off feature; set shutoff setting to desired tank pressure and pump will stop when programmed pressure setting is reached.
