FalvonWings..

That must be where I saw the 1.00 DF engine, my mind must have jumbled OS with K&B, I knew I saw a 1.00 DF engine.. I guess I am kinda stuck with my Rossi .81 for the time being, as I don't have the resources to purchase a different engine/fan combo at this time..

Craig I think you can still get an OS .91 through Tower Hobbies, and the JMP pipe and Dynamax through Tom Cook (not sure I would pay retail for them though!)

This may not be the right place to mention this. I have a BVM F16 with gear, JMP Starfire II C with gear, Yellow F18 two piece Twin with gear, OS 91, two BVM 91R and some other goodies if anybody is interested. Every thing is new never run or built. PM for details. Just flying turbine these days, F18 would make a great EDF,may keep that one. Cheers

I do, I have an F-4 Phantom ( scratch build wood and foam). It is a lot of fun and really fast with a Ramtec and OS .91 and spring air retracts.

Go ahead build one you are going to love it.

Stealth Fly By,

What part of Orlando do you live in?? Would love to see that F4.. What club do you fly with, RCAFC?? I live in St. Cloud, and fly with Osceola Flyers, down here between Kissimmee and Poinciana.

FMRR,

I will keep that in mind, as I have heard great things about those engines, pipe and Fan unit set ups!! I would imagine that they would give my Byron F16 a real kick in the pants!

I sure do love to fly ICDF!! I currently have two planes: an Aggressor III from BVM with a BVM 96 and a BD5 with a VioFan and a BVM 96. I love the smell of Wildcat fuels (now no longer in business but being mixed and distributed by Byron Originals Fuels) and I enjoy the challenge of tuning and running a nitro 2 stroke engine. Always will. I also really enjoy the faces of people who haven't seen a piped 2 stroke screaming by!! So, nitro ducted fan isn't dead it has just moved on to the few who love this part of the sport/hobby.

I had excellent luck for years with GDF. After hundreds of runs, my O.S. 91's were bright silver because I never tried to squeeze every last RPM out of them and I didn't buy into that BS that the black heads are normal because of castor...

Byron f16, yellow A4, Byron A4 both byrons have rossi 81s little A4 os77 found the larger size won't hit the rpm range and when they do they wont stand up too long, my os 77 on the dynomax will spin 22,500 with a custom con rod, the rossis both have os carbs and are work horses pushing the big Byron fans around 19,000 rpms. The biggest secret is keeping the plane as light as possible at only 11 to 13 lbs thrust it is nice to keep them 11 lbs or under, and if the f16 flames out it will glide a long long time with no bad habits...... oh ya 5% nitro 18% oil some castor..

Hey, F16man...

what OS carb do you have on those Rossi .81 engines?? I don't really want to fiddle with the Rossi carbs, if I can replace it with an easy to adjust OS!!

Thanks, Craig.

my os 77 on the dynomax will spin 22,500 with a custom con rod
You can't turn much rpm for very long with the stock rod in a .77. I have bent a couple of them in Byron fans that don't turn as many rpm as they do in the Dynamax.

Another trick with the OS.77 is that you can run a back plate and carb from an OS.91VRDF on the .77. Works very well!!!

Yup the stock rod is bushed I machine my own titainium rod with a needle bearing on the crank end works well as long as the piston pin boss hangs in there, don't ask me how I know .....ha ha........

Yup the 91 runs a Byron fan pretty good but is not up to the rpm needed for the smaller fans imo....

Hi Jesus, I was persuaded by a good friend to sell the Mig to him. He converted it to a single rear mounted turbine. However he sold it without flying it and I believe it is still in Scotland. Ron.

This is today's choice of model. JMP Starfire, my third. OS 91 with a Viojet fan with a modified Ramtech impeller. I had to use the Ramtech because I was unable to find a Viojet impeller. My helper let his rag get sucked into the intake and this sheared all the blades of the impeller. If anyone has a spare viojet impeller I am your man.
