Word of Warning regarding Motion RC Freewing F-16C Super Scale 90mm EDF Jet - PNP
All of the nav lights blink like a UFO and there is no way to make them constant. For a semi scale jet that is advertised as "Super Scale" LOL, this is ridiculous. I can't return it because I have already glued rails and tail cone and it won't fit in the box. Moreover, their return policy explicitly states that you can't return after it's been assembled etc. My luck the damn thing would get damaged in transit and I would loose out.
Moreover, returns don't include freight.
I guess I'll get with a friend of mine who knows electronics and see if I can make the thing stop blinking. For a $500 F-16 foamie this is like grade school stuff. Very disappointing.
One other thing, the retract servo wire is hard wired on the board and it was put on backwards. Just another annoyance that I found once I started trying to figure out why it wouldn't work.

Yes, how do you think I found out that they don't and are not planning on correcting the blinking lights? Their CS is lacking. They got billigerant about it and basically they said you get what you got. Sorry fellas, not acceptable in my book. Blinking lights UFO's was not on my list of scale features on an F-16.

I fly a lot of expenive foamys ( lol ) including a 79" $500 P40 , I found that Diamod Hobby was the best in customer servace.
I guess delivering on super scale is not part of the deal but my next question is if you now stuck cant the lights be replaced ?
ON my Super Scale P40 ( lol ) I replaced the retracts, the motor, Spinner , Prop and the lights . Howveer that was my plan at time of purchase, I simply wanted a 79" P40 with light wing loading and that is what I got.
I like Motion RC but as stated Diamond RC is much more proactive on factory related problems.

There is a builder on RCG , and in
fact many of us but he starts in foam , then glasses to by most standards would be rival many in scale competition.
The biggest benifit of foam is wing loading , the biggest negative is sensitivity to direct sun. However pick up a mid range glass fuse and then an EPO fuse and you may choose epo , you wont have any tin-canning in areas not supported by a bulk head like in a glass fuse.
I am about to start building a Bryan Taylor 82" Corsair out of foam, it will either receive glass cote or a new product I am testing from Rosco industrys that puts a plastic cote on foam.
I am not an advocate of any one building material but I am not a true warbird "heavy medal fan" perhaps wiith a Moki and a 25lb airframe I would see the value and feel needed but that is not my cup of tea .

Actually, you would be surprised at how scale these things are getting. The gear on the F16 is incredible.. I know a lot of guys putting p20's in that new Yak. Other than blinking lights, My main gripe with them is the minimal flight time you get.

yes Jets seem to be real power hogs with little room for larger batterys.
These pics are all foam , I have hide these from my RC friends that hate foam , so we are a small groups that meets under the light of a full moon, and in daylight we only fly wood and glass model to so we can maintain our manhood

checker showed 2% battery left after landing. They estimate a safe flight would be no more than 2.5 min.

Ya that is issue with all eflight . On my 79" P40 I get about 5 mins and 6 to 7 with throttle management.
Its takes two 4 cells in the nose to fly her but I charge at home so I have enought in this szie to get 4 flights in.
I can charge at the field but have no done so.
Depending on the brand $500 can be turn key or $500 may mean you need to replace the servos and power system and that sucks !
FMS in the 1700 size birds is pretty reliable but the big LX P40 while reliable out of the box is a slow dog so I replaced everything.
My favorate plane is the LX Wildcat , its amazing that you can get scale retracts in a wildcat ARF, mine was so used from field use I gave it a new paint job !

I would just install another light controller from Hobby King or something, or just turn them off. Anyway, I don't fly EDF's anymore or even anything electric because of the short flight times, expensive and hard to get batteries. If they come up with new battery technology that at least doubles the flight time I may try it again.
Here is my Fly Fly F-100F with lights glassed and painted:

I only fly eletric now, my problem is torn ligiments in both hands from my non glory ice hockey days , so electric starters with glow engines kill my hands and I know I can go eletric start gas engine but that also has its own set of problems.
Electric only became affordible to me with Hobby King ( shhhh bad word in some parts lol ) .
Nice work on the jet, when you have an open mind anything is possible regardless of how the model starts out.

Fyi. I work on the electronics of the real F-16. The aircrafts lights blink as advertised! I cant let people think its not
Right on this jet. The real jet has the option to make them flash or stay solid even bright or dim. They also have night vision option. lastly, the anti collision light on the tail has about 8 different flashing patterns. The only items this jet is missing is the tail flash light and a real pencil light on the stab. I own this jet also and its amazing!!!! Well done freewing!

I get 5 min flights. If your flying in a neghborhood make sure you are not around any houses at all. This jet is not a park flyer.you should fly this at a rc airfield to prevent any possible misshaps and potentially crashing into a home or someones property. You can see the speed of this jet and how it could get away from you quickly on my youtube channel search jeremy solt and enjoy.

Glad to hear they fixed it. My first controler burned out after the 2nd flight. I ordered some new ones and haven't used them yet. I guess I lost interest but I will try it again. 5 min flights aren't worth much the trouble. I'm looking forward to a jet that doesn't cost a fortune where the flights are longer.
