With the Jet Cat you can recall the highest RPM recorded during the flight. With a 24x12 Biela mine runs about 7400 when it is unloaded. I have[

Two more flights today (finally got the smoke system working). I did confirm 160,000 RPM on the engine, so the SEP 24/17/3 is spinning just under 4900 on the ground at full throttle. I have no idea what the "unloaded" RPM is, but the performance is good IMO. I'm willing to bet the SEP 24/20/3 static will be even less. It may come down to prop brands instead of actual stated pitch because one manufactures 24/20/3 may perform different than another's based on prop design.
As I said, I believe I have found my perfect prop, but it will be interesting to see what others come up with.
As a side note, I have requested the factory add a prop RPM sensor to the engine even if it is not used by the ECU so we can see the unloaded RPM via telemetry. I'm looking at adding it to mine with an sbus sensor now.

Yesterday I test ran the turboprop with a 3 bladed 22 inch Solo prop dialed to 24 degrees. The rpm on the ground was 4700 at full throttle and 1580 at idle.

If you are running the Kingtech turbo prop unit, I don't think you are going to be happy with the performance of the Biela 24x10 prop. Danny (Chief Aircraft) maidened his PC-21 at Kentucky Jets with the Biela 23x14 five-blade propeller, and he was not very pleased with the performance. For his second flight, he used my 24x23.5 prop, and the overall performance of his plane was greatly improved.

I am running the KT K60TP unit. Like I said have not run it yet, and am not sure what the Biella prop is, but I do remember that it is around the 24 inch size, but I probably got the pitch wrong. Supposedly it will be for this engine so hopefully they got the numbers right. Was the 24/23.5 a two blade or three blade prop? I have one of the Zinger four blade units in a 26 x 10, but have not run it on the engine yet. I did not think it would enough.

An update on the numbers I provided last week. I dialed the pitch back from 24 to 22 and on the ground it's turning 5,000 rpm. I did a 5 minute maiden at half throttle and there was a half of tank of fuel left after landing.

On the PC-21 I have the timer set for 5 minutes and I have been consistently landing with 1/2 a tank of fuel left so I think it's time to bump the timer up a little.

For those of you still looking for a propeller for your KT-60, Gerhard at Aircraft International will soon receive a shipment of Biela 24x22 three-blade turbo propellers. The cost is $123.75 usd.

The five blade that SM have developed for the KT60tp, Is this not design to also prevent over speeding in the down ward maneuvers? I know that the full-size TP units have governors to prevent over speed (over revving of gear box). Also ,does anyone no weather the KT60tp has a governor.
I you over speed the gear box you will also have unnecessary heat and damage gear box.
Do you think it is wise to fit a composite prop? - my thoughts on this is that wood will be better than composite as it would do less damage to gear box if you have a prop strike. I think with composite prop the gearbox will take a knock due to sudden stop wear as the wood would just shatter. What are your chaps thought on these few Questions?
O I get my KT60 end October. cant wait as I have the 5 blade from SM and my PC 21.

There is "governor" on the gear box, in fact, prop RPM is not being monitored on the engine. KT recommends 5000 RPM on the ground and you have to check/verify before flying.
Regarding props, you may "limit" some damage with wood, but any prop strike (composite or wood) would most likely require a trip to the service department.

Curious to know what propeller (diameter, pitch, and maker) many of you are using on your K-60tp? I am still searching for a prop that will provide the best performance (speed/vertical climb) for my PC-21. So far, I tried the Fiala 24x17 and the SEP 24x22. Had to reduce engine rpms for the Fiala prop, and could not spin the SEP 24x22 higher than 3000 rpms on the ground. Biela prop should be delivered tomorrow, but doubtful the results will be any better. Unlike testing props for a glow, gas, or electric setup, trying to find the right match for this puppy can get pretty #@×n expensive. Would greatly appreciate comments from those of you using the Kingtech K-60tp.
