Pttcrisp,

Thanks for your input, if there was enough interest for a new event like this, it would be a very much watered down affair from something like the JWM which no doubt takes an enormous amount of work, money and an army of people to arrange and put on.

The events we have are not public events and are organised for the membership, so the spectator side of things is not really a major concern. It would be intended to satisfy a need for competition . . . . should there be one of course!

With regard to participation in the Nats, Barkston is already very busy with different disciplines and given the space we would need, it is a non starter. The JMA is a self funding organisation with its activities funded solely by its members, any event such as this would would either be funded by the JMA, if that's what the members wanted or privately outside of the organisation. In either case I doubt those involved would welcome any interference from the BMFA and the internal politics they would undoubtedly bring with them.

Thanks P.R, the airfield is RNAS Merryfield and is the satellite field to the nearby Naval air station at Yeovilton. The runways and the grass are kept in excellent condition and we are very lucky to have the use of it.

The DF model is a SAAB Viggen from a Jim Fox kit with spring air retracts, OS 91/Ramtec fan with a BVM/MACS pipe. It is such a nice model to fly, i just wish it was as easy to start as a turbine!
