DrV,
That's exactly what happend to mine, oscilating all the way, no matter how many gain.
It turned my head upside down and i was worrying that i was killing my tail servo's.
So bottom line, the gyro is out, and said again this bird really does not need one, not even close.
The next step is finding the perfect gears for it, cause that still is a bit of an sad story on the whole thing.
I ordered the the Tam struts for on my V2 gears, lets see how that will work out.

Curious about the gyro issues you guys were having. I know of a few Mini Avanti's flying with the Cortex and they all work very well. FYI, on the Tam struts you will need to have Tam make these for the 5mm pin used on the newer retracts. Be careful tightening the sets screws. There is very little thread with the 5mm hole.

However, if you do not have the T35 yet I would recommend for sure the K45G setup. More power, much cheaper and the weight is not an issue at all. Next to that you would not have to deal with the extremely poor customer service of herr Lambert, for which in my eyes there is no place in this modern world.

I can remember that Henke was recommending a 40mm pipe for the T35 for the best results. The pipe which comes with the mini Avanti is 45mm or so, so it is definitely not too small.

Small jets are more suitable for my budget and I had mw44 before. Unlike kolibri, I had diffuculties in finding a god airframe for MW44. Kolibri's size makes 90mm edf conversions easier.
Kolbri with 6 minutes of fuel is around 700-800 grams. K-45 comes close to 1.7kg including fuel. As long as I am flying with small edf conversions I will go with kolibri.
I hope, one day, Kolibri also reaches the same sales numbers as Kingtech and provides faster delıvery and better customer services.

My mini Avanti with the T50 made 4 flights yesterday!
WOW!!, what a great power!!! :-)
From take-off the mini Avanti go's directly straight up like a rocket.
Dry weight of the mini Avanti is 3300 gram (7,27 lbs) . Yes 3300 gram!! ;-)
Wet weight is 4100 gram (9,1 lbs).
I installed a 55mm double walled thrust pipe from Lambert. That saves already a lot of weight compared to the Grumania 65mm.
Looking forward for more flights.
Regards Didier

Hello all, for fix the tank you need screw the carbon plate direct to plywood plate.

I see your location as hoofddorp. Is this close to schiphol airport? I fly down to AMS pretty often.
Chatty.

Congratulations on the maiden, with the T35 in hot conditions it has great verticals. I am sure it would be a rocket with the T50. How is the idle thrust on the 50?

The idle thrust is compared with the P-20 higher but on grass it was not an issue.
I fly in landing configuration also with crow, that helps to reduce the speed.
I will fly next week from tarmac and I suppose I have to shut down the turbine just before touch down as I don't have brakes.
I live near Schiphol.

Are those with gyro problems using the Cortex? I've never not been able to get a cortex to work well and it is always an improvement. Now, the cheap one by Freewing that Sebart USA was supplying at extra cost for the EDF versions (was not to be used with turbine) was a piece of garbage and went in the bin after a few flights of experimenting with every setting...

I have two jets with cortex gyros. This plane is so stable, I think a gyro is unnecessary, but thats my opinion.... ;-) I can't see one not working unless you had the gain up too high. But its such a stable little plane. I was knife edging it way lower than I'm comfortable with my other jets a few weekends ago.

How are you? :-) I will measure it for you tomorrow but i guess about 5 mm ailerons up.
I still have to fine tune the model, as my "rest thrust" is higher then with the P20.

Hi Gents, Hope this all finds you well. I have had my Mini and K45 since October last year when I came over to BITW and had a fly with Barry and a few guys at his field before the event. I actually ordered mine while I was still in the US.
I have had about 98 flights now (590min) with mine. The first 5 flights were done with the turbine conversion pipe that came with it while I waited for the Grumania Pipe to Arrive. Since then the mini has been on rails!! I have a 3e gyro in mine and has been there since the maiden. I haven't had any problems with it and I can get the settling off my TX if anyone is interested. The install isn't as neat as neat as usual as this has been used as a Jet I can leave in my truck and fit in a quick fly in between work meetings. Haven't had any problems with the retracts, just replaced the springs to help the trailing links survive the little extra weight. Came out at 3.7kg dry and I have 2 tanks with a total of 1.3L. I have to say, the 900ml tank would be sufficient as I am always landing after 6 min flight time with about a 1/3 fuel left.

all is perfect here (only misses the golfcarts and the vodka )
Thanks for the info on the crow, will try to start at 4 to 5 mm and see what happens (we only have a 70 x 70 meter grass strip locally)

IF you fly from a short grass trip with a P-20, use Take-off flaps and large wheels! I replaced my main wheels for 2 1/4".
Also remove all unnecessary weight and keep the model as light as possible.
I just measure my crow and for the P-20 a I used indeed 5 mm of crow.
To much drag on the mini Avanti with P20 was also not a good idea, because if you chop the throttle on final, the airspeed drops very quick and can surprise you.
Now I have 9 mm of crow with the T50 to create some extra drag. (foto T50 set-up)
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Didier, I will look for larger wheels for mine as well!
Regarding speed on final, I have my ASSI device and Android telemetry so I get the airspeed in my ear on finals (and I can even activate auto-throttle if I'm really lazy )
