Default Skymaster F-104 NASA maiden!

I finally maidened my SM F-104 this week. The maiden was uneventful. My second flight was done at a giant scale fly-in at Castle Air Force Base. I did not have the iGyro activated for either flight. The Starfighter is a gentle giant. I'm looking forward to exploring her aerobatic range in the next flights.

Powered by a Behotec 220 and Futaba for guidance. AB rings and lights by Details for Scale. Lenses by Alex at The Little Jet Company.

Buck, I just watched the Silveraaaado video. Please don't start the Behotec while taking a leak. That's an even worse wet start. Hahaha

Carlos, watch the movie 'The Right Stuff'. I love the scene where the Superhero aka Chuck Yeager flew the Windowmaker. Legandary!

Bill, thanks for the kind words, but I was simply just holding on.

It was a handful. Have plenty of friends who lawn darted a few. Some of them more than once. It suffered from high speed compressor stalls, rarely recoverable.

But.....they were so cool!

The sound (turbine plus airframe noise) is very pleasant. It sounds very realistic.

Coolest airplane to come out of the fifties. Very nice, dubd, but it needs to be MUCH louder.

Very nicely controlled flights. Are you using all the suggested settings from the manual? Did you raise the turbine mounting for the 220?

Cheers,

Jan

Thanks, Jan, Paul, and rcguy59!

I followed the recommended set-up from the BVM manual. Regarding the 220 mounting, I had to mount the engine from under the rails for it to align with the pipe.
