JHH-A7 with the new Kingtech K45

I flew one of these a few years back with a 12S electric setup and it flew quite nicely as long as I kept the speed up. I think part of the control issues may be the high wing loading versus what the plane was originally designed for. When my fan came loose (my own fault) the plane literally descended like a rock and I couldn't even flare enough to avoid major damage landing in the grass. I think my weight was at least 15+ lbs.
I sure would like to see this A-7 or preferably one larger be successful. This particular camo scheme is close to my heart since I flew the full scale (same tail number) years ago in Vietnam.

John,
Yeah, we are a little spoiled out here in SoCal I hate to say. Usually calm in the mornings with winds in the afternoon, but not usually too unmanageable.
Craig,
That was a bummer for sure, I still remember hearing about it. I hear you on the wing loading, the airplane does do better (especially landing) at lighter weights for sure. If we were to do this airplane again from the ground up, the EDF version would have been purposely designed around a high power 90mm fan...at least that's the direction I would push for. That's what I'm flying mine with now and it's about perfect. It's a lighter installation (my VA-72 weight is about 14.5 lb with 5800 mah 12s packs and brakes) and the flight times are really good. At the time we designed the ARF, the 90mm fans weren't pushing the power that they are now and so it wouldn't have pushed the airplane around as well in comparison. Live and learn I suppose.
Unfortunately, I don't expect that these will ever be available again.

If you want any I think Dave Wilde still has some untouched A7 kits.

Hey Kris, nice effort! I think you are going to like it.
For "scale points".......or just to impress old A-7 pilots .....the inside of the tail cone area was painted in "chromate yellow", kind of a mustard yellow.

Might be a good idea to set the timer at 6 mins, land and see what you have left in the tank.

40 Oz should be more than enough. I am getting 8 minute flights with the K45 on the glider using plenty of throttle with 2 20 oz dubro tanks. I do not use any UAT as with a pleated paper filter they are not necessary.

I dont have a scale here at work. Will try and remember to bring one in or weigh it when I bring it back home. One step closer now. Tested the fuel system and took the aircraft out and did some engine runs. Simply learn RC and prime the engine and its done. Engine ran great love the new K45.
I can tell you for a plane this size feels kind of heavy to me. Should be fine though.
Also going to use the new Xicoy spektrum telemetry on this bird. Still need to install a gyro also when I get some time.

I have the pipe on order along with some other odds and ends. I will use regular dubro fuel tanks. The plane already has electric gear from down and locked. Will install a spektrum receiver along with a eagle tree gyro.
