Hi Paul,

Welcome!

Driving or flying, lol?

Where you able to get a room at the hotel listed? It is 10 min from the airport, very convenient and I even used their meeting room to rebuild my fuel system on a rainy morning last year!

We will hope for some good weather because we have a big runway and minimal waiting.

We will (most) meet Wed night and set up the site and fly Thursday through Sat sunset, dinner in town after flying.

Lance, Jerry, Ron, Mark - should we make an official dinner spot for Saturday night? Any requests? I can set up some reservations.

BVM has also (I think) sponsored us again this year for the raffle.

Thanks again to Jerry Crow for the CD work and getting us sanctioned and covered by AMA!

See you in a few weeks,
Dave

Ill go with the majority

Will do. We will have to burn all fuel by 730 to get to dinner, perhaps a challenge?

Anyone else new coming?

Things are mostly set for our event. We have tentative plans for dinner Sat at The Firehouse. It would be helpful to have a relative accurate headcount so if you are coming for the first time please leave a note here and we will make sure we have things set for any new arrivals (trailer space, dinner res etc.)

Thanks
Dave

Dave,
Reservations made at the Super 8 for Thursday and Friday nights. Looking forward to flying with you guys. Question, is the airport closed to full scale? My brother wants to come up from Arkansas for a day and will be coming in a Barron so needs a place to land. If the airport is closed, where is the next closest one?
Thanks!
Paul

Hi Paul,

The airport is closed to full scale for the event Th-Sat.
Charles City and Cresco would be two options, Charles city is a little closer but I think Cresco is bigger. I think Cresco would 45 min drive and Charles City 25 min?

One perhaps last plug for our event. Please consider coming if:
You like to fly jets
You like big runways
You like runways without traffic
You like to roll out of hotel and be at field in 10 minutes
you have an AMA turbine waiver (please make sure everything is current)
You have an EDF jet
You like to fly with the sun at your back until late evening
You like to sit around a campfire after flying
Well, you get the idea.

Reservations already made. Also hoping my buddy Paul will make it with his scratch-built C-17.

Quick update:

If you arrive Wednesday evening before dark we will help get you settled with a trailer. If you have a camper or RV, that site is adjacent but just NW of the flying site.

If you arrive Thursday - the entrance to the airport will be blocked to general admission. We will stop flying to allow you in _ entering the airport and proceed down the runway to the North. Alternatively we may have access from the road to the west of the airport entrance.

If you know you will be arriving Thursday after 10 AM , it would be helpful to contact me ahead of time or leave a note here.

Thanks,
Dave

Hope it was fun. My only day to attend would have been Saturday and it was the first day my daughter was home in two weeks and raining here. Saving some time up for two weeks from now...

Hope you can make it.

I flew my mig twice and the last landing got slow, broke the front gear mount out. The first time landed too fast and barely stopped at the end of the runway. 2nd time tried to slow it down and landed in the grass before the runeay, the lip of the runway is ok to transition off of but as I learned, no good for transitioning on I'll see what it needs barely looked at it.

I have an f-18 almost done not sure if which way to go, fix mig or finish f-18?

Im working on it, the damage is minor but you know how it is, still takes time to fix! I'll see what happens I don't really want to show up with just 1 jet and my viper jet is not something I feel worth dragging to events since its pretty much a trainer.

If I can get it fixed I am going to see if I can make it!
