Ha, that's funny - that's my exact criteria to see if I go to Super Jets South this year for the first time...

You guys are welcome either way. This is a low key event with a closed big runway and very little traffic.

We hope that our neighbors from MO, IL, IA, NE, SD etc.. will all be able to make it.

We are only a few miles from town and anything you might need. Trailers can be left on the grass on the West side of the runway.

I didn't make it to JOK, we turned around after the 2nd set of tornados had us seeking shelter in Mo.
I'll try to get this on my list.

How many people usually show up?

Hi guys,

We have a small but determined group. We range from 7-12 pilots but there is room for many more. The same 5-7 guys have come for about ten years. Low frills but everything you need and close support and hotel.

Hope you can make it. We fly Thursday-Fri-Saturday as much as you want, the airport is closed for us. We face east with a long day of flying with the sun at your back.

Excellent! Looking forward to it Lance.
Video looked great of the Blackbird in KY.
Do you want to plan on the hangar for the Blackbird? Plan B would include enclosed tent - weather permitting.

Sysiek, search Google maps for New Hampton Municipal Airport, New Hampton, Iowa.
It's just NW of town. Very close. Not at my computer to post a map at the moment.

We park on the grass in the NW corner about 600-1000 feet from the North end of the runway.

How does the pitting work? Just do it on the runway?

It's really easy, in that people just take their birds up to the side of the runway, get them fired up and they fly. It's slow enough that it's usually just 1 or 2 going at a time. Dave set's up a safety fence for the pilots to stand behind, and people fire up just on either side of it.

you can also see the setup in the youtube video above. We will likely park trailers parallel to the runway again - easy in and out that way.
