No Green dot on my Gen 2 DX-18, did the range check over 1/2 mile. No problems.

I flew pretty heavily at MS AB event and had no issues...so I wasn't too concerned but wanted to run the range check anyway.

A very scary moment at JOK. After landing, my model went into fail safe and the turbine shut down. Brand new jet and a lot of money spent there. It's a gen 2 dx18 and no green dot. Have been flying a 3m CompArf extra 260 with it with no problems. Also have a brand new, never flown stealth dx18 with no green dot. I'm sending them both in. I feel really lucky right now.

I should also add that I never got any notice from Horizon Hobby or Spektrum. Both of my radios are registered. The only way I knew about this was when Linda from Dreamworks called me literally minutes before my friend maidened my new jet. Seriously, we were in the pits getting ready to start up. So, we dropped the program into my other gen 2 and flew. Had a non eventful maiden. Then on the second flight, we had a fail safe and turbine shutdown on roll out after landing.

I have not received any notice from Horizon either, my Dx-18G2 is registered as well and has no green dot. I suspect it's fine as I've flown with it for a year with no issues. I typically don't fly at extreme ranges though.Only as far as I can see lol.

EDIT NOTE: I DID RECEIVE AN EMAIL ON JULY 9, 2015, WENT TO MY JUNK FOLDER. MY ERROR, KUDO'S TO HORIZON FOR GETTING THE INFO OUT (at least to me). Check your junk mail.

Dang Paul you never told me that, glad all went well on the new jet despite that. I need your jet luck minus the turbine luck

It was pretty scary, Keith. Linda at Dreamworks knew that I had just purchased a new Stealth DX 18 from them and was concerned for my jet. A huge thank you goes out to her. She took the time to call to make sure I was aware. We never used the stealth 18 but used the gen 2 instead. I just got very lucky that I didn't loose about 15 grand. Both radios are boxed up for shipment back to HH tomorrow. Glad I still got my JR 12x (that I had planned to sell at the JOK swap meet) to fly my other two jets.
The only reason I bought these two DX 18's was for the talking aspect and telemetry. Also wanted to have two matching radios for redundancy.

good call! Must have misread the other post I thought you just flew anyway. Is there a reason you didn't check the data? I fly spektrum specifically for that feature. I have 2 DX18 G2's (one as a backup) and love the fact I can check the data, my first one had a bad RF board and I caught the problem in the data just before I flew, most likely saved my Flash. I check the numbers after every flight and when i have noticed the rare anomaly I pull the RX and send it in..

Interesting, I believe the problem with the DX-18 G2 may have been reported in June. Wonder why no notifications were ever sent to any registered users of this radio.

I got one in my e-mail thats registered to the Spektrum site.

Ironically, about a week after i got back from a trip that included a tour of Horizon, my 18G2 was in my truck about 50 feet from the service center :/

At a glance the Gen 2 has a speaker grill above the switch

Yep. The 18G2 and Stealth can be the master and pretty much any of the other radios can be the slave. You just bind them together like another receiver.

Not only that you don't have to hold a switch, you flip the switch and give control, and as soon as you move a stick it takes control back. Very very slick
