Jets Over Whidbey 2015
Hello Everyone,
The "25th" annual Jets Over Whidbey is rapidly approaching. JOW is the premier Jet event in the Pacific Northwest and is held at a fantastic site at NAS Whidbey OLF 3 miles south of downtown Coupeville. The event this year is being held on August 28th, 29th and 30th. Lunch for Friday and Saturday as well as a JOW 2015 Tee Shirt are included in the $35 registration fee. The banquet will be held on Saturday evening at the CPO Club. The cost of the banquet is $30 per person. Detailed information re making reservations for the banquet, flying schedule, directions, contact information etc can be accessed thru the JOW website at www.jetsoverwhidbey.com
We look forward to seeing our friends from Canada, Oregon, CA, Idaho and Washington as well as anyone else who can join us burn some Kero and have a great time !!!
We look forward to seeing you there. Chime in if you can make it ...

Bill don't know for sure about Bob and Bruce. I think they are planning on coming. Will know more when I see them in about a week and 1/2 at the Edmonton Jet and Warbird event.
As far as the A-10 have got another one of the camo colors done on it, but now I am having issues with overspray getting on my other planes, so going to have to deal with that first and rig up a better system for painting or go to a booth. So things are a bit stalled right now, with cleaning up the other parts of the fleet and keeping them airworthy.

Hi Bill
This is to regetabley inform you I will not attending JOW this year. Unfortunately my Tutor crashed when it went into fail safe at the Edmonton event last weekend. Airframe is lost but most other things will be going for a check up visit to the manufacturer. Up to this point we were definitely going, but I won't make the 12 hour drive with only one plane.
So have a good to everyone and maybe will be at JOW next year and maybe even with the new A-10. Have a good event.

Well, after being on again and off again, we are back on for Whidbey. Leave this afternoon from Bend Oregon and arrive sometime Friday. Broke the canopy for the Elan during transport to the local field but managed to create a built up that will allow the ship to be flown until a replacement can be found.
Chris Shaker isn't able to make the trip due to company from out of state, Bruce Tharpe is knee deep in a drone project that's got a deadline approaching, Dave Lawler is moving to another area of town, my son William had to run out of town for family, so Carolyn and I might be the only ones from Oregon.
Hope to see you all soon!

In my opinion this event s/b moved up a week. It "seems" to me that the weather becomes iffy this last weekend as the fall season starts to creep in. There have been many great sunny weekends of this event of course. I'm sitting over here in Marysville, wondering (and frustrated) if it's worth the drive in the current high wind conditions, and seriously cloudy to my West, to come and spectate.
I hope all that made it have/had a fantastic event.
Regards,
Bart

Well, the 25th annual JOW 2015 is in the books. The weather was certainly a major concern but many pilots arrived anyway !!! Friday started out looking pretty grim but by 11:30 the flight line opened up with some terrific flying for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, we did have one casualty that resulted in what appeared to be a total loss. Saturday. Wow !!! The wind really picked up. The word at the field was that there was all kind of flying going on. Garbage cans, canopies, and porta potties !!! Seriously, the porta potties were being blown 100 yards away from where they were set up !!!!! We talked a lot about airplanes and solved a few world problems at the same time... Today cleared up enough for a few individuals to get their planes up in the air. The event certainly wasn't picture perfect but it will certainly be memorable.
I would like to thank all that attended as well as the club members that worked the event.
