Looks like FB has another winner. I have a new Dolphin L and it is without doubt the best ARF I have ever seen. Flawless finish, CF laminate formers with perfect filets, gear is hefty, lots of CF in high stress areas. Your pix show the same construction as mine. The other Chinese ARF manufacturers should take notice on how a jet should be constructed. I think you will have a very nice and durable jet. Good luck with the build and flying.

Yes, it's strong and very well constructed. Wish panel lines and rivets were a bit more detailed. Please check all bolts on all clamps and mounts. Mine were all a bit loose. Make sure to put flat spots on wheel axles and check all gears set screws and bolts.

People where having problems getting the mains to retract consistently. I think some have a valve for each main so it gets more air. Looking forward to seeing how yours goes. I am thinking of using a UP valve but I am unsure it can get enough air through it.

I see... I was considering UP valve also but decided to go this route to make sure I get enough air. It takes only 15psi to cycle one of the main gears with air pump connect straight up. With 20 to 25 psi slams pretty hard. Can’t see it not working properly but we'll see....

Hello Braza,

Have you finished the model? Any additional pictures you could post? I've just ordered one, I have a little time to wait, but I'm looking for images of the nose section under the cockpit and fuselage areas for hardware, tank locations, etc... I'm going to prepare a drawing for the install and I'm trying to get a sense of the room to I have to work with. Thanks in advance.

yes, plane is complete. I'll post some pics tonight of the inside of the plane. I didn't cut the nose off mine. it was not necessary for me. I'm running 2 k140 in mine. I have only one flight so far and the plane flies awesome. Flew a little nose heavy and i'll play with CG a little. Since i'm running twin engines and i wanted to run two separated fuel systems i decided to cut main tank in half and put a wall separating the two half and joined it back together. It was a little bit of work but worth doing it. Batteries are just under front seat. Seems to be pretty close there. might move it back a little when playing with CG.

Chris did a great build on his here. Good info :http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...ale-build.html

Hi Braza,

Thanks for the response.

Could you help me with a couple items? I'd sincerely appreciate it.

Would you mind sending me a picture of the fit and finish of the gear doors while open and closed? I have one on order and in pictures the doors appear to be cut square on the outer edge of the large door. Although, they should follow the pattern of the opening.

I also need to verify all of the components included in the ordnance set. In the picture you posted it looks like you illustrate GBU-12s, did these come with the set? I don't see them on FB's site.

Lastly, did the model come with attachment points for the Lantirn targeting and nav. pods? They're telling me the model does not.

thanks in advance.

Hello Braza,

Any updates on flight performance results? Any detail related to main gear retract performance and function?

How has it gone?

I have already quite a few flights on mine. Very happy with it. Airframe is solid. Gear is the only issue I had but have worked thru.

Could you please elaborate on the Gear issue and how where you able to solve its issues? one more thing, is your kit from a recent batch or from older ones and if you know if there are any differences between them.

Thanks in advance

Main gear rotating system not good. I've replaced the two main gear rotating to a non rotating. Since then I have not had any issues. I believe the kits that are being delivered now have a non rotating gear. My plane is nearly two years old.

Mine was purchased in 2010 and still in the box. i also purchased the so called "upgraded retracts" which turned out to have only 1 small block each fitted to prevent strut from rotating when extended.... i guess that was not the right thing to do. Anyway project is on hold due to lack of proper airfield for the time being but this does not prevent me for gathering info till the time comes and i will do the build.

Regards,

Hi IFlyEM35,

I have a latest version NIB FB 1/7 F-15E in a special scheme. I may be willing to sell it if you do decide to go that route. I had the gear strengthened (had custom aircraft grade aluminum supports made) and I sent out the system to be converted from air to down and locked. I also bought a TAM pipe for it. It's ready to be assembled and it's here in the states. Send me a PM if interested.
