I was thinking of repainting a arf paint scheme and was wondering what do yall use to strip off paint. Is paint stripper ok to use on a composite air frame.

i've used citri-strip from home depot - its pretty mild - wont hurt the FG - test a small area first - it dont always work - some paints are just too tough for citri-strip.

removing the existing paint is alot of work, even with a stripper. if the existing paint is in good condition, you may want to consider NOT stripping it. if you're careful, painting over the existing paint will not add an appreciable amount of weight.

Citristrip as well!

You have to put it on really thick (1/8) and let it sit for awhile or overnight. You also have to reapply for each layer of paint underneith. It is very messy but effective! I have yet to find a paint it won't work on if you apply it thick.

I have found that if you rough the paint up with 100 grit sand paper before the citristrip, it will work much faster on the really tough paint. You don't have to really sand it, just scratch the crap out of it so that the citristrip have a means of getting under the paint. This works quite well for basecoat/clearcoat paints since the base does not have any resistance to strippers or thinners.
