So the K-310 seems like would be the better match for the plane.....
what would be the down side to using the k-310 ? any ?

I'm planning to use two PowerBox PowerPak LiIon 5.0X2 PRO (5000 mAh) with my Champion SRS and install permanently the batteries in the Hawk.

I wonder if the batteries will be enough ?

Will be it safe to charge them installed in the jet?

Thank you in advance

The K-310 is new & unproven. I originally planned on buying one at Florida Jets 2017, but decided to wait on more reports. Also there is weight & fuelburn, so slightly higher approach & stall speeds, & where you'd be full bore on a 220n the entire flight, you'd back off of the 310n right after making the 1st turn & probably remain at about an average of 1/2 to 3/4 throttle for the rest of the flight.. so, fuel burn will probably be the same.
I do think a good rule of thumb is not to buy a turbine until you are ready to install it, or at least 100% ready to start your build. They change & advance SO quickly!
my 2 cents, Jay

Another thing to consider ... Depending on actual weights of fuel, turbine, and smoke you may well get into LTMA2 which is a whole other ball game as far as requirements to fly "legal" in the US. JS

or maybe Anton can chime in. Now that we know the dryweights of 2 models, itd be great to know the TO weight... but seems like 70lbs is a good number.
50lb thrust turbine = approx .7 to 1 power to weight ratio
K-310 = 1 to 1
on T/O roll.
Jay
* Sorry guys, my math was off. With Kero weighing almost 7lbs (6.82) per each gallon, your takeoff roll weight is more like 80ish lbs.
220n/50lb thrust = .62 to 1. (Scale, real Hawks are around .65)
310n/68lb thrust = .85 to 1 (almost F-16C @.91)
subtract a little for installed thrust loss.
Jay

I'll have to look into this more.

I received my new turbine pipe today from SKYMASTER for the Kingtech K310- the new one has a 4" inner diameter - The pipe that came originally has about a 3 1/4" ID in which is fine for a P200. I did not try to fit it in the fuse yes as it does seem shorter then the P200 pipe- ill get back to you guys with how it fits after the weekend. Also both pipes are made of exactly the same material - just different diameters.

Also I would like to clarify that the back end of the new pipe that is 4" ID and the front end is at 4 3/4" - please note in the new photo this is a JETCAT P200 (I found this image on line) this photo is to show how the new pipes form SKYMASTER attach, they do not have mounting brackets- they all attach from the bell mount as shown in the photos. A very secure set up.

I am at Florida Jets now and actually a little disapointed that NO ONE has shown up with this Jet...
I have seen about 4 of the smaller versions ...
I really wanted to see one fly since Mine is on its way...

I'm close to maidening mine and have noticed that I have about 1/16" up/down play in my ailerons. It's most pronounced at the root end of them. It appears to be play in the hinge system. Anyone else have this?

My concern is flutter. It does not seem to be linkage or servo gear related ... it seems to be the hinge. Maybe a larger diameter piano wire is needed.

YES- my wings also have just a small amount of play both up and down- my friend Amir had the same issue with his wings and he had no issues with his maiden last Nov.- however I am curious if a slightly thicker piano wire would do the trick?

Thanks for the reply, StyleFly! Let me know if you change anything and I'll do the same.

Still hope to see you at FIF!

I took this photo of Craig South's just after a flight but with Tx/Rx still powered up. Obviously CG dependent but should be a ballpark place to start. JS
