I am going to get a upgraded pipe as I plan to use a K310 and do not want any issues or to worry about the 10 sec rule. - also John mentioned even with the new pipe for the K310 to not over speed the jet with that amount of power. -Just for take off and maybe a bit of vertical . As they say with great power come great responsibility.
Haha.. very true! Maybe I'll play with some other stuff & wait to see what you think of the 310. I plan on heading down to Florida jets & check them out. If I get a good enough deal, maybe I'll grab one there... IDK though, gotta worry about TSA.

Thanks for your reply.... I to have those coming and like you I would
want better stable slow speed flight...
thanks again
although as of yet I dont have my HAWK.. it should be here
in MAY. I talked with Danny threw Email and I believe the
upgrade to the elevator is for sure something I will do as well.

I finished up the wing fences yesterday, and I'm very pleased on the results. I went to BLICK ART Supplies and they had a huge selection of out door spray paints, they had the exact match of cameo colors of my HAWK. So after sanding and painting them, I glued the fences on to the wings using VPOXY. I used just a thin line down the center so it would not ooze out. -Also I sanded the wings where the fences went to make sure I had a great bond. My next install will be the leading stall strip- this is used to initiate flow separation at chosen locations on the wing during high angle of attack flight , so as to improve the controllability of the plane when it enters a stall. photos to come soon.

If I am looking at this right, the VG's and the Fence are not at the same angle, Is that correct ? The fence is in direct airflow, and the VG's are toed in..( front ) ... Am I seeing this right ? Is 30 degrees of the VG's the angle to go with ??

Thanks for any help !!!

I've committed to a larger turbine. Removed my Behotec JB-220 & it is heading into another project. Anyone that tries the K-310 or K-250, please report your findings here.
thanks, Jay

The fences should be parallel to the a/c centreline. The vortex generators are set at 14 degrees or so, Le in, to the c/l.

The stall strips on the Le are to be create buffet aproaching the stall which can be felt via the stick as a stall warning.

All ll three of my Hawks have this setup and are very docile at the stall.

Pictures included. I should have added that the stall strips will also provoke a stall nearer the inboard wing section earlier than the tips, which mkas tip stalling less likely and reducing the chance of a sharp wing drop at the stall. They may be of some use on the model, certainly mine are very benign at the stall with just a gentle wing drop.

I made my strips from folded litho plate, look the part !

That's funny! They do look like Turbinators. Zoomed in on my phone, I couldn't tell if they were real or models until I scrolled over to the people..lol

They are CASA Aviojets of the Spanish aerobatic ream, Eagle Patrol.

They look a bit like my PST Reaction without the good looks of the Reaction !

Hi I have a hawk it's getting ready to be delivered in a week or so I was wondering and I know this question is going to very somewhat.
What is the dry weight of this airplane and what is the Wet weight.
I'm trying decide if I'm going to go with the JEtcat P220 or the Kingtech 310.

I was told with a P-200 dry, it weighed in at 67lbs. The consensus seems to be that a 220 is just making it, but a little weak if you need to do a go around while dirty & heavy.

I'm at about 65lbs dry on a T1 with a PBS 230N. Smoke tank installed but no smoke pump/system. This turbine seemed to push Craig South's around quite well.

Be sure to get things as far forward in the airframe as you can during building. I'm balancing out pretty well but have my Rx batteries in the nose and ECU and light packs on the battery trays on each side of the NG.

Sorry ... no wet weight for me yet but you can estimate that from the dry weights.

If anyone can get their dry weight, then fill it up & re-weigh it wet, we can figure out the fuel capacity.
or maybe Anton can chime in. Now that we know the dryweights of 2 models, itd be great to know the TO weight... but seems like 70lbs is a good number.
50lb thrust turbine = approx .7 to 1 power to weight ratio
K-310 = 1 to 1
on T/O roll.
