Default The All New TJ-20 from PBS Velká Bíteš

"Introducing the All new PBS TJ-20A From Velká Bíteš. A small model aircraft turbine engine, But with the technology of "Big" engines.
It consists of a single-stage radial compressor, radial and axial diffuser, annular combustion chamber and a single-stage axial turbine."

It reaches up to 210 N thrust with the weight less than 2.1 kg. (4.6 lbs) Engine bearings are lubricated with the mixture of fuel and 3% of oil. It can be run on Kerosine or Diesel fuels.

All ancillary equipment is built under the front cover of the engine. (I believe this is the only engine manufacturer to do so at this time) What you see here is whats installed in the model. No separate ECU, Solenoids, pump etc... Hook up your fuel line, battery and receiver connection and bolt the mount in your airplane. Realistically it takes about 15 minutes to totally install in the airframe. At the recent Wingham Jet meet we installed one into a F-16 in about a half hour. This included removing the old turbine and all its separate systems and installing the TJ-20A.
Also included is an engine data terminal for use in programing and observing the engines vital functions Before, during or after running.

The introductory sale price is $3050.00 plus shipping by Contacting myself or Lubo Droppa whom is the only USA repair technician certified by PBS.

Cycle time is 50 hours with a 2 year warranty. This doesn't include crash damage of course and will be handled on a case by case basis.

For more information check this site.

I can be reached at 219-688-3984 or E-mail me at;
[email protected] to order or help answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability.

I personally have at this time 12 hours on the engine in the Ultra Bandit and it runs smoother starts faster and has better throttle response than any engine I have run to date. Its an amazing engine and every time I run it it impresses me more. Also this engine is built by a company that makes full scale turbine engines not a cottage manufacturer.

Does this turbine include the battery? It needs 12 volts?

The one I received did not have a battery. I'm using a 3 cell lipo. The engine uses about 220 milliamps per flight in the UB. I think that most people would have their own favorites so maybe its a mute point considering also the price. Here is whats included in the box.

If you want to buy a larger Velka Bites engine you could go for one of these.

So today I received a call inquiring about the warranty of the engine and who would be responsible for shipping charges incurred.

As of this time it is two years from date of Purchase against materials and workmanship. This is basically unlimited as far as parts and workmanship.

Suck up a loose screw from inside the plane and its another story.

If you were to need to send the engine in for service you will be responsible for the shipping to Lubo/PBS. PBS/Lubo will ship the engine back to you free of charge while under this 2 year warranty.

After inspection a loaner motor may be made available to you to use while yours is being fixed. I believe this will be handled on a individual basis and be at the discretion of Lubo and PBS.

After the two year period it will be your responsibility to accept shipping charges.

Also ANY repair during warranty or after warranty that requires shipping back to the Factory will be covered by PBS.

THIS WARRANTY ONLY APPLIES TO ENGINES SOLD THROUGH LUBO DROPPA OR TIM REDELMAN

I believe this is the best warranty available in the model jet engine industry today

I hope this clears up any questions that anyone may have.

I can vouch for this engine as I have been running one for a couple of years now. Fuel consumption is no more than teh 160 it replaced in my Eurosport but the power is up dramatically.

I saw one run recently - it looked to be well made and super simple with everything being internal.

I forgot to ask Lubo if it had a cast or machined compressor wheel, the fod screen made it hard to tell looking at it - anyone know?

The TJ20 and TJ20A have Machined Compressor Wheels.

Hi Tim,

What kind of ECU do these run? Xicoy? Projet?

Would a strap like BVM makes fit? I would fit this turbine in a BVM bypass.

Some locals saw one at jetpower and said it is very nice.

Thanks

Matt

The size it's about the same as the original p-180 ,I think I might get one of this turbine it is probably the best 50 lbs size turbine today.

Matt it's there own ecu , and bvm made me the straps. I'd have to check but the old P-180 straps may work. Physically it's a little smaller than the old 180.

What size battery does the motor need?? will it run on a 3 cell A123 pack?? I saw Pablo running this motor at bitw and it seemed to be very dependable and powerful.

Hey Tim, is there any telemetry support yet for the ECU?

I have a BVM pegusus bypass and I don't think any system other than the BVM straps/aluminum ears will fit.

Thanks

Not correct, our telemetry adapter support our own ecus (used by Wren, JetCentral, Kingtech,JetsMunt,Hybl, ATJ,Hawk....) but not the EVOJET ecu used by PBS. We also suport JetCat on our FlightComputer, but no other brands.
