How is the thrust of the 220 doing for you. Are you still putting the 300 in it

She has a K210 in it. It flies good and scale but not like I like to fly with all the ordnance hanging on it. Waiting on options from Kingtech factory. Might be going with something smaller then a 300. A 300 might be a little much for this plane. Might have a a few new sizes to pick from on some new prototypes coming out from the factory that are bigger then the 210 and smaller then the 300. Cant really say much else about that lol.

Thank you Jason!! and Bob!

Already started working on the bomb drop. I added more nose weight on them and did some trimming to make sure they release on time. When this works right its an automatic 10 on the maneuver in TopgGun. Also now that I am getting a handle on how this plane preforms I am starting to put together my scale routine for TopGun. Still doing some tweaking on the maneuvers but almost have them set. From now on every flight will be my scale TG routine until TG is over.

I will need to order some spare parts for this bird for when doing events. So far I can see I need to make stronger axles, spare set of the little part on top that rotates the strut and a spare set of wheel bearings also.

I bent the nose gear pin before FLjets and for a fix I cut a quarter inch craftsman extension and used that as a pin. Harden steel lol its not going to bend now. For those that have this plane another spot to look at is the front of the nose gear retract. It has a threaded pin that keeps the gear from going backwards when down and locked. This pin has very short screws installed and they will strip out and cause the strut to bend backwards then the scale drag link will snap off the bulkhead. To fix this I used the longer bolts used for the ordnance and cut them to exact lengths so that they thread in a long ways but do not bottom out on each other. This worked great for the rest of FLjets.

Work continues....

Picked up a new aircylinder for the airbrake. The stock one is very weak and does not come up all the way in flight. Also its not long enough and does not go to the scale height.

After I got a call from Joe on how he modified his I did the same. New actuator came from dream works and is 7/16 and 4 inches long. Had to open the hole up some and also make a new mounting point on the airbrake. Tested this last weekend and snaps up perfect in flight.

Just got back fron TopGun. 2016! I took home 1st place in sportsman class!

I started this road 1 year ago after TopGun last year. I decided to sell my F22 and get a better plane for competition flying. After selling the F22 I put the F15E on order. Crashed it on my maiden flight with a fuel issue and rebuilt it. Then had the entire landing gear rip out with a wheel bearing falling apart. Had to deal with all kinds of other gear issues but finally the week before TopGun I had most of the problems ironed out. I put her through her paces and she flew great. It was a long road and could not be any happier. Love the way this plane flies!

I tried all kinds of things for the bomb drop. Had lots of problems finding something that would not break on impact yet be heavy enough not to damage the plane when I dropped them. Tried many different combos and weights on the bombs. Even had one bomb put a hole in the wing when it flew up. I was just about to give up on the bomb drop then while I was drinking water out of my water bottle I thought this would make a good bomb. So the night before TopGun began I took 2 empty water bottles and sanded them and painted them like bombs along with fishing weights in the nose of them. Turns out they work PERFECT! I use the real bombs for static but the water bottles for dropping. They are painted olive drab.

Also on the drive to TopGun a shelf broke loose from my trailer carrying all my fuel and tore a hole into the nose of the fuselage. I had to do a quick field repair on that to get me by for the week. Now I will redo the entire area.

Kris, congrats on your win! Any idea if FB will be incorporating your gear mods into the plane?

Not sure D. I talked to Mike D at FLjets and he was talking about the gear on the new C model they are making is supposed to be much better. If it is we where talking about trying to adapt a set to my E model. The gear even with the MODs I did still take allot of maintenance. The gear has so much play on toe in and toe out its crazy. Its kind of floats in the right direction when rolling out with all the weight... Pretty much every time I taxi out I need to readjust the nose steering because the toe in and toe out has changed.

Some have made the gear non rotating and then they work pretty good. But it loosing some scale detail on the drag brace to make it do that and other things also. Really dont want to do all that. But the little parts that control toe in and toe out wear out in just a few flights and then they just kind of float around.

Fantastic looking MOD. Do you have anymore details? Do the retracts come rotating or did you do that? How did you secure the struts to the retracts? Are the main legs shorter or the same length then before?

of course retracts are rotating.
And you'll see on top of the gear-leg a special machined part in aluminum.
Main legs are same lenght as original.

Where do you get that special machined part from? I really want to do this MOD on mine. Thanks for the help.
