Scale Jet Composites Folland Gnat
My highlight of the show was this Gnat produced by a new British company Scale jet Composites. These are the guys behind the huge Hawk (shown) 1:2.9
The model will be available in various states of build, breaks down into estate car sizes.
Pictures do not do it justice...its stunning!
Scale gear like the full size. Many more details soon
1:3.5 2087mm
180-220 power.

Yes I agree a superb model with as much scale detail you would like and without being patriotic it is a British model of a British plane. The reported price is 9000 Euro.

Only if you have asked for it to be gold plated!
It won't be cheap, but nothing like that, we did not talk an exact price, but 9000Euro for a Shockwave package it will seem cheap! The package is complete, detailed (installation, servo mounts etc) all worked out.
I've been following the project since 2013 and its been an amazing amount of work.
Three of my friends ordered one at JP

I got the price off a German Forum, it didn't seem to make much sense, and thanks for letting us know the correct figure. I look forward to seeing some flying.

So £10500 like you see painted and weathered. Basic cockpit (as picture!!!)
Super scale cockpit is £890. Moulded light lenses £65, even option of a custom wiring harness installed.
All GBP.
Only the FO 144 two seater. The Mk1 single seat is quite different, needs elevator compensation on landing and other changes.

Just to add the prices will include most of the build by the same company with a full pictorial certification to go with it so you get to see the internal structure before the closure of the moulds etc - it is a piece of art.

Anyone who knew these guys would know you don't need to see the structure to know its right :-)
There will be no corner cutting or rush jobs, they are only taking small deposits, not full payment, you will be able to see progress of your order on their web site. We have all dealt with companies where service is lacking, Archie and the team want to set a new bar.

Hi
I saw the plane in JP and had a talk with these guys and was really impressed with the project. The buildind looks quite strong and the surface detail is amazing. The master was made by hand, thus making it more real. Quite impressive work and an original plane. Cockpit detail and paint is also very nice and they are planning to sell it with a JWM standard
Donwsize is price, lack of availability and not flown yet. They said it was finished a couple of days before the event.
very nice guys to talk to, though

The guys have factory drawings for the whole Gnat, its been made from that.
Flight performance is not a worry, huge wing area will keep it lightly loaded, good moment length smooth and with it being scale a 3 axis gyro will lock it in.

There's also a need for the pilot to achieve 6deg of up-elevator trim at take-off and landing, apparently by adding an extra 2.5deg up-trim manually, which is gradually removed as the gear and flaps are retracted and airspeed is increased. Presumably the guys will have spoken with one of the Gnat teams so will know this already, but I'm just making these comments as one large-ish Gnat prototype has already bitten the dust. Plus John Carpenter found that lowering flaps generated a huge and unexpected nose-down couple when he fitted flaps to one of his prototypes all those years ago - this was before computer mixing in Tx's and he said he never used the flaps again!
Pim's ancient Gnat doesn't have flaps so he doesn't get the effect.
It occurred to me that these elevator trim settings will most likely require programming into the Tx as this huge model will behave more like the real one.
The AP's mentioned above along with those for the fighter variant are available as an online download from http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/Home10.html , and I got them as I'm making a Carpenter Gnat and will fit flaps.
Just trying to help.

Was so awesome I just couldn't help but pay a deposit
As Dave said, if you know these guys you know it will be the best model ever made!! I'm sure flight tests will be fine. Perfectly modelled off of a fantastic full size flier, big wing, light weight, gyro. All bodes well. Now, do I go for the yellow........ :-)

They have spoken to the Gnat team and spent a lot of time with the full scale. The way I understand it one version has the linkage for tail trim and this version does not as the flaps are slotted away from the lower skin. Its been discussed at length, I have flown a JC Gnat and know of the issues.
The big thing is this will be tested before its sold, there are two prototypes nearing flight ready and obviously videos will be posted.
When the web site is active it will also be here.....

Hello!
This is on my list for 2016. Does anyone know how to get in touch with the manufacturer? What is the price of the unpainted kit incl. landing gear and basic cockpit? Unfortunately I did not attend Jet-Power this year. Any info on the weight? Is the Landing gear electric or pneumatic? Did anyone take pictures of the landing gear? So many questions
Hats off - finally some awesome jet models being produced in Europe!!
Thanks!
