So i have just finished painting on the rest of the graphics for this color scheme. I also applied several light coats of clear to seal in everything.

I am very happy with the way this is turning out for being such a large plane and it's the biggest paint job i have ever done.

Nice job Greg. You should post the painting process in more detail. The masks, Type paint, spraying equipment etc. Inquiring minds want to know.

Joe,
I can't give all of my secrets away.. Lol!!!!!

I've been getting my paint stencils/masks made at a company call Getstencils.com they are located in FL.
The spray guns i own are made by DeVILBISS i own a jam gun and a full size primer/top coat gun. They are both HVLP type guns.
My compressor is a Kobalt 30 gallon stand up and i also have a water trap and pressure gauge to set up the proper air pressures.
My choice in paint is usually PPG DBC base coat. The clear of choice is PPG DCU 2042 high gloss clear.

Hi Greg
great job. Why do you put the decals before the paint?

jetnuno,

Those are not decals.

Everything has been painted onto the plane.

I just do it this way so i can have a nice white base for the gold. Also there is much less masking if you do the graphics first and back mask them and paint the main color last.

Greg, you did a really nice job on the Sabre! I'm sure it is even better looking in person. You taking that bad boy to Afterburner this year?

Looks very nice, I hope to see you and the new the plane at Wingham jets this year or possibly KJ if you go there, I just completed a few repairs for our mutual friend Mike W, the colour gold you chose is much nicer than what SM chose, theirs has a pinkish tint, I had a hell of a time matching it. Congrats on the successful build and paint job! Well done.
