The 220 charge system is like this if you are using the BMS system (this is not std on the 220)
From new, charge the ECU battery and the Powerbox Rx batteries.
Start, run fly. Once the turbine is running the generator will charge the ECU pack back up. When you land, the ECU pack will charge the Rx packs back up to full. The Li-Fe ECU pack is then not fully charged...
The system is so efficient on the Brushless starter/pump the turbine starts and runs on a discharged pack.
Its genius and game changing.

Hi all,
I have a 220RXi-B underway. Any news about how it performs?
Still no FOD to be provided? No fuzz to make one out of standard 80-180, but......
The BMS system is not following the engine. I believe there is an upgraded version?
It will be in my hand in time anyway. (Ordered a CARF UL with custom scheme.)
I will be happy for any update and information! :-)

The latest FOD has three notches pre moulded on the inner ring, and a 6mm hole. You still have to open these (so it fits other JetCat's)
The update on the BMS is for wider battery choice, we have people using the V1 and it works perfectly.
I have around ten 220RXI-B's out in England running regularly. One in a CARF SG L-39 has transformed the model over the P-180Rxi fitted before.

As Dave said, just opened the 2 additional notches an new FOD fits fine.
Maidened yesterday my Rebel pro (reduced power to 200N). Just 2 flights, but engine worked perfectly in flight.

Really looking forward to my new engine!

Hi David, re the BMS for the 220rxi. i was just looking at the BMS manual and toying with putting one in...Can you run a jetcat smoke pump in line on the power bus? The diagram has the bms connected directly to the ecu....I have a 220, 2x PB batteries lipo , jet cat bty and a jetcat smoke pump on the way to Aus...I gather the bms in this case is not an option..or can you daisy chain the pump in there some how? thanks again for your help

Had to check with JetCat...
Yes, the BMS and Smoke Pump can be used simultaneously on the P220RXi.
First the smoke pump must be connected to the ECU and the BMS to the free connector of the smoke pump.

Which batteries are people running on their receiver packs with the BMS? Is PowerBox still the best/only option?
Is it possible to recharge an electric retract battery as well?
I'm looking into buying a 220 in the near future and can't find much info on batteries online.
Thanks,
Mark

As standard the BMS charges the ECU pack, the battery BMS for Rx packs only works with the various PB batteries for now.
There is a charge limit of around 7A, if you can run your retracts from the same pack as the ECU it will charge it...but all the electric gear I have tried use a tiny amount of battery power anyway

2 cell LiPo as ecu batt
Hi Dave,
I was flyimg on an ice yesterday. UL w/220RXi and BMS
And had problem with the cold weather. Around 0°C
The 3 cell LiFe original batt did not manage to start The engine. I had to carge it just seconds before start attempt. 😆
therfore I have an idea to use a 2 cell LiPo.
The Q:
How do I have to solder the balance socket (have to use one from an original JetCat ecu batt?)
I nedd to perform it this evening, to be readdy for tomorrow 😀
FANTASTIC ENGINE! 😍

2s Li-Po will not work. It needs 3s to be able to charge Rx packs from BMS.
If you went with low Rx packs or did some long setting up the Turbine battery would be exhausted before you try a start

Ok, thanks Dave
I havd no luck using 3 cell LiPo. Burned the ECU several time. On P180RX and P180RXi
A fly buddy has concluded the same as I did.....
Solution would be a bigger 3cell LiFe?

ECU is on the 12.6v limit, but charging to 98% would be ok. I don’t like 3s Li-Po because of the voltage reduction needed, the ECU works harder. It was a solution for tomorrow.
Yes, we use Graupner 3400 3s Li-Fe...but with Graupner gone again that might not be possible.
or fit larger Rx packs and do without the BMS. ECU pack will still charge, I use a 3700 2s on my Mephisto.

Ahh, first time I had that described propperly! 😀
Thanks
I think I will do as you explain. I think I have a 4000 3sLiFe from Dreamworks
I just got information about Graupner. They are not gone. They just "re-configure", and will continue (quote): "From Samsung land".
maybe......?
Thanks again Dave
